Hi, Everyone!
I've been browsing through the message board, but haven't found a discussion about this yet. My diagnosis of PCOS so made sense to me when I read about it: it's like all the symptoms fell into place and this lightbulb went off for me! I totally fit the "apple shaped" body as opposed to the pear, for instance.
What I'm wondering is why it seems even more pronounced since my diagnosis and since starting Met? I look even more round-bellied and pregnant than I did before! I was so looking forward to the weight loss that my doc predicted. Admittedly, I haven't been exercising, but I didn't before either.
Is anyone else in the same boat?

Hi- I just started on the Met, and so I have been doing lots of research. ANd from what i have read, I learned that along with the Met, you also have to change your eating. I don't know what your meals are like, but with PCOS, a low sugar, low carb lifestyle is the best. Taking met alone isn't going to do the trick, but combined with eating healthy does the trick. I hope that helps. Let us know how things go for you. Hugs.

I combine my Metformin with a low carb diet and most the weight I have lost has been from my middle area as I was quite "round" before! Hope this helps a little & hope you get success from it soon

Walking & Low Carbing to 146lbs - nearly there!
July 07 : 167lbs
Sept 07: 153lbs
Nov 07: 147lbs
May 08: 144lbs
July 08: 140lbs
I've found that watching my sugar and carbs, along with the met is starting to thin out my upper body. Actually my DH noticed it first when he thought my boobs looked bigger, turns our my sides are just thinner. (I had taken before pictures and we compared them.) So I guess my shape is changing!!!
I'm an apple girl too...I also found just watching my carbs and salt and sugar eased my weight situation too, but it is such a hard plan to stay on, especially since the two other men in my house prefer to BBQ every night and live off completely unhealthy food! I love the Carb Options Peach drink mix, I have to drink that all the time to keep full and to keep my sweet tooth in order! I also love Baskin Robbins sugar-free ice cream candies, they taste just like the real thing, and the are made with low-calorie splenda! I love splenda, it is a Godsend to us cysters. Wal Mart sells them for a buck and a half a package and they are so worth every penny! Hang in there girl, God bless you.
