Points: 7,903.80 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 7,903.80 | You poor thing! I sympathize. I don't know about the boils really, but the rash in the arm pits could be a sign of acanthosis nigragans. Talk with your dr!! I had this and luckily it was because I had a cyst on my ovary that didn't produce an egg and I had to stop all stimulation medications until the following cycle when the cyst went away. The rash was BAD. I was using baby cornstarch powder, but it didn't help until I used Lotramin AF cream on it. I know it sounds weird and is an athlete foot medication, but it works on the itchiness of the rash and it was the only thing that gave me relief. (i also use it under my breasts in the summer when I get a heat rash) But make sure the Dr tests to see if you have a cyst on your ovaries. Otherwise they have to look elsewhere for cysts and that could be why you have the boils on your legs. |

I Know My Dermatologist Said If It Persisted They Would Do A Skin Biopsy To See What It Is But He Said He Sees This Allot In Diabetic Pts, Which I Have Early Stages Of Type 2. Should I Contact My Ob, Or Should I Just Follow Up With My Dermatoligist First?
I Thought The Boils Were Caused From Too Much Insulin Production, I Never Thought/or Read Cysts?

It is linked to PCOS and IR. Met and pregnancy helped keep them away for me. They can occur under your arms, but it doesn't sound like it's the same as those boils.
I'll try to find you the link for one of the old HS threads.

ANY ADVICE?????????????? | Chrissy about 5 years I was going thru what you are now, except the boils. I am of mixed hertiage (black, irish, italian, and native american) and i was confused as you. It is INSULIN RESISTANCE all the way. Im sorry. I heard that wearing loose fitting clothing that doesnt rub your legs might help. I still have the issue with my arm pits. I seen and dermatologist for it a few years ago. I was so embarrassed. The doctor told me to try and keep dry (like that is going to work), use a anti-bacterial deorderant. I was given some kind of cream (I dont rember the name) when it was really bad. The oder killed alot of my shirts. I smelled musty or like onions. I decided to try the deorderant called "Lady Mitchum" .... goodness , it has worked...YEAH!!!! I noticed that I have to be consistant on washing my body (especially armpits) every day and use Lady Mitchum deorderant. It took the oder away.
Now the discoloration.... the metaformin helps with that. It takes different time in people to take the discoloration away. It took me taking MET about a year to get the discoloration to go away. Butonce you stop taking the MET , it more then likely will come back.
Chrissy, I hope this helps you and you feel better.

My Mood: Points: 14,943.50 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 14,943.50 | I have hs. After I had my 2nd ds in August when I went for my 6 wk check up the nurse practioner gave me suggestions for it. I am amazed at how good this is working. She said to only use Ivory soap because it is a drying soap and she also said to pour hydroperoxide on my thighs before I shower. I have never done that, but when I get out of the shower I use a clearasil pad and wipe my inner thighs. I then dry then with a hairdryer. I am rarely getting any boils and the scars have lightened up so much. I would only use the clearasil pad once a day so you don't dry your skin out. I am taking 1000 mg of met a day. When I was on 2000 mg a day I was getting boils all the time so I think the soap and clearasil is what is working. Both pregnancies in my 2nd trimester I got a boil bigger than a golf ball. Those I believe were hormone related. Hurt like he!!. Hope this helps.
