I went to a nutritionist this afternoon and she said she was looking at my chart from the dr's office from Oct and she said that my test showed I had low thyroid and she was surprised that I wasn't getting treat for it and that she is requesting the Dr look into the option of giving me medication for it.
How resistant are dr's to this (giving treatment for borderline?)?? I have a family history of this mother, grandmother and aunts. I have all the symptoms and I am miserable.
Anything I need to know to sway the dr in my favor?

I first noticed signs on hypothroidism when I was about 15. Had all kinds of test and the dr's always said I was borderline but would never put me on anything. I almost had to have a complete nervous breakdown. I actually had a panic attack (which can be a side effect) and they did blood work and my levels were horrible. Finally they put me on meds. It took a lot to get to that point. Just don't give up.
A good doctor will treat based on your symptoms and personal experience, not based solely on lab results. Small doses of a daily thyroid supplement is not the same as putting a patient on a pain management regime like Vicodin, so any doctor resistant to "experimenting" isn't listening to your concerns.

Took me 8 years to get treatment because I ran into some stubborn doctors.
I finally got an endo who listened- and because we were TTC she put me on treatment because of my 5 m/c's all happened around 9 weeks which is when thyroid function is key. Keep on trying-- it may take a while but once treatment started I've been feeling so much better.
