i was just diagnosed on thurs with PCOS. im 36, never had children. underactive thyroid and high blood pressure. also overweight. the only difference is ..i have regular periods. they just are very very very heavy and i have really bad cramps. so the specialist is putting me on birth control pills and then in 3 months wants me to go onto metaforman?????(please forgive spelling) my dr told me that he had never seen a PCOS patient have reg periods. now i feel wierd. im not sure how this all working. all ive heard is insulin and how everything is related. im just confused. theres so much to take in.

Welcome. Metformin is for IR. It really helps a bunch of us. You'll have to do test (if you haven't already) to check your insulin. If they put you on Met make sure to take it with food...if not stomach cramps. There is tons of info on this site so get to researching!
Good luck and have a great day!
