I was just diagnosed last month with PCOS and I am really glad that I found this site, it actually feels better to write this and to see other women with the same condition and in the same boat I am in.
I never really feel like I am overweight because I have always been a little overweight my whole life. I never had regular periods ever! When friends said they had their periods every 28 days I thought that was strange and a hassle. I never knew when mine would show up. I wrecked numerous pairs of panties because it would just show up one day without warning.
I was on depo for almost 10 years in my late teens and early 20's and did not have my period at all but my doctor said that was normal for that kind of birth control. I felt deep inside that something might be wrong but did not know what it could be.
I do not have hair loss, just a couple hairs on my chin that I pluck once in while. I have hair on my stomach but thought that was because a friend in high school shaved her stomach I did to and thought that caused the hair growth. I have hair on my toes and I still get pimples at 29
I want to have a kid when I am 30 so I decided to see my doctor to make sure everything was normal, after talking to her she sent me for blood tests. I do not have diabetes but my testosterone was a little high, I do not have high blood pressure either. I am actually really healthy other than I wish to be 20 pounds lighter.
When I went for my ultrasound I have large clusters on my ovaries that were really noticeable. My doctor put me on Metformin starting at a smaller dose then increasing to 1000mg that I am at right now. I have not had any side effects from this drug at all but it has been 64 days since my last period and have no idea if I even ovulate.
I am meeting with a specialist on April 24th to see what my next step will be.
I am really glad that I could share this information, I already feel better
