Default Brands of green tea

I read reports that say the green tea that is beneficial for blocking androgens are the ones that contain EGCG.Not all the green teas out there contain it.Does anybody know of the brands that do contain it?I know one is made by Traditional Medicines. And are the green tea capsules the same as drinking green tea?Does it have to be caffinated to be beneficial?

EGCG are the catechins(polyphenols)in the green tea that make it antiandrogenic. An herbalist told me that very processed green tea loses the catechins in all the processing. So you have to read the tea boxes to make sure that they contain catechins or EGCG is how it is listed.

I just purchased a brand of green tea that says, "rich in polyphenols". The brand is "Hedley's", it's in a red, square, tin, container. I think it's imported. That is the first time I've seen a "rich in polyphenols" label on green tea, but then again, half of the time I'm purchasing tea (popular brands) in the grocery store. Didn't get this one from the grocery store.

Also,..I thought green tea was naturally decaffeinated....

Question

I heard that Green Tea can actually increase testosterone. Personally, I doubt the validity of this statement, but I was wondering if anyone else has heard this. It seems contrary to the first post . . . but I'd like to know.

BTW: I'm pretty sure that Green Tea has caffeine . . . like all other *real* tea.

Much Appreciated!

I buy the Celestial Seasonings Decaf and it has some caffeine in it still. I have been drinking it for about a week with other herbal teas an my sex drive has increased, but it was already high to begin with so who knows. So for me it has some testosterone properties I guess.

Hi, I don't know about the EGCG, but I did read somewhere that you would need to drink about 6 cups of tea daily to get much benefit from it.
I started taking Sundown brand capsules. If you look at ingredients, you will see that some brands toss a lot of extra garbage in the capsule. This one doesn't, the ingredients are tea extract, tea leaves, and gelatin (the capsule). The leaves are just loose in the capsule, and when I take it I burp up green tea flavor a few hours later. I also had more CM when I was taking it.

Green tea does have caffein - how much depends on how long you brew it. But I think it's milder than black tea, and definitely milder than coffee. (One random website says.. The caffeine amount per cup of green tea is about 10mg., 15mg. in oolong, and 20 to 100mg. in black tea. Coffee contains 60 to120mg. per cup. )

Default tea web site

I order green tea from specialteas.com . I have no affiliation with the site, just found it and like it, has excellent teas (not just green teas), and detailed descriptions of the tastes.

Question Green Tea - Good or Bad?

I was told that drinking green tea when you're ttc is bad. I've heard a couple of people say that.

Does anyone know if there's any truth to this?

Default From everything I've heard...

Green tea is supposed to be good for those TTC. It has some properties that thin/increase cervical mucus, which is a ++ when you're going for a BFP!!

The major drawback is the caffeine, which is NOT necessarily good when you're TTC. I've heard extra caffeine IS good for the male's swimmers, tho!

Green tea doesn't have THAT much caffeine in it. I never worried about the caffeine levels, but then again, I never got a BFP either.

Good luck!

Started TTC #1 in earnest in 2002--took Clomid 50mg for 4 months. Ovulation, yes-BFP, no.

I just came across an article on green tea. It looks really long, but more than a third of it is references.
