Anyone have experience with the brazilian? I'd really love to be rid of all this nasty hair down there. I'm worried that I have so much that it would be way too painful, embarrassing, etc. I'm also worried about ingrowns. I usually shave but the razor burn is awful and it's so hard to get all the way back....
I've had one done once but I don't think she did it totally right because she didn't get the butt crack. Still it was a really good waxing and I felt really smooth and fresh afterwards. It was someone embarassing I guess but not as bad as I'd thought. I'm getting it lazered soon hopefully. (As soon as I have the $$$)

How does that all work? Do you just go in a remove your panties and they do the brazilian? How long does it take? Are you in pain afterwards. I am almost tempted to get it done. I like being clean shaven, but I don't like the razor burn, so I just use my husbands beard trimmer and cut it really short.

Anyone have any ideas for how to make it less painful? I've been getting my eyebrows done for years but it still hurts like heck every time, makes me tear up, turns red.....and that's just my eyebrows!!
they sell a type of numbing cream that is safe to use w/ brazilians..but i cant remeber the name of it..i want to have one done too..but am worried bout the scaring from boils...dont want to have one aggrivated or reopen

A few of my friends use Ibuprofen being going to the appt. It doesn't make it painless by any means but helps a little bit along with any possible swelling afterward.

When I had a brazilian wax done I kept my panties on and she tied them together with a string to keep them out of the way. She had my hold my skin out and that made it hurt less with it stretched. I am going to use numbing cream for the lasering.

Unfortunately I dont have enough hair "down there" to even get a Brazilian. lol! Its the strangest thing. Its as if my crotch has developed male pattern baldness. :p
For about the past year or so I've been having a Brazilian done every 4-8 weeks depending on how fast the hair grows. Here's the deal:
Call or shop around and find a shop that you like - ask to talk to the person who does the Brazilians. This is an intimate and possibly painful sort of thing and you want someone you like, trust and who knows what they're doing.
Find out how many they do or how long they've been doing them - you do not want a newbie doing this on you! There are actually 2 different kinds of wax - the one they use on the legs IS extremely painful if they try to use it on your cooter. Ask them what kind of wax they use or if they use 2 different kinds - one for the legs and another for the Brazilian. I'll check with my gal to see what kind it is she uses on me....she said that some salons don't use the better kind for Brazilians.
The girl who does mine is a doll! She's beautiful, very discreet and respectful. I was immediately at ease with her when I first talked to her on the phone. I had called about 8 other salons before getting to her. I couldn't imagine going anywhere else now.
Mine costs about $50 - but the prices vary greatly. It shouldn't cost more than $80 imo. I think my price is pretty low, actually, but I'm not going to tell her that.
Before you go in, you will need to trim as much as you can down to about 1/4 - 1/8 of an inch. It can't be too long but it needs to be long enough for the wax to grab it. (If you go in with it too long - they will make jokes about it and probably send you home because they don't trim... )
When you come in for your appointment they will have the room set for you and a bed in the middle with a pillow-like thing that will go under your knees. You will strip down from the waist down. I keep my shirt and bra on. Then cover with a towel or blanket that should be provided.
The whole process takes about an hour - hour and a half the first time - after that initial session I think we get done in about 45 minutes. You will need to have an alpha-hydroxy lotion to use daily, but for the first couple of days after your first waxing use straight aloe vera and a bikini saver numbing lotion. If you put the alpha hydroxy on before your skin is ready it can be painful! (trust me! )
Maintenance is a breeze - just loofah that baby really well when you're in the shower and pamper it with the proper application above and you'll stay smooth for a long time with no pain or ingrown hair problems. I get ingrowns every once in a while, but Theresa, my tech, will pull them out for me while I'm there.
The pain? Hmmmmmm.........the first time it was pretty shocking but the pain doesn't last but a second or two after she pulls each strip off. She also presses down after pulling a strip off and that seems to kind of help. The more I get it done the less it hurts, but my skin isn't tougher or more rough because of it. The hair also grows back a little thinner and softer.
I THINK that covers it. Feel free to contact me if you have any more questions. Now that I have found Theresa and love being smooth, I'm dating a guy who would prefer a little fur. We can't win for losing sometimes, can we?

Thanks so much for your explanation. I've been wanting to know about that procedure for a long time. I'm just too embarrased to go, being a fluffy cyster, ya know? I have the ever famous PCOS belly flap - so I don't think I'd be comfortable getting it done until I've lost ALOT of weight!
Thanks again!
