Hey I was just wondering if anyone had any low calorie breakfast recipes or ideas? Any would be great.

Thanks

My typical breakfast:

Over medium-high heat, scramble eggbeaters and 2-3 spoons of cream of spinach (I leave a defrosted package of cream of spinach in my 'fridge and spoon out what I need each day). When eggs are cooked, put onto a plate and top with shredded mozzarella cheese or shredded italian cheese (Kraft & Sargento have yummy shredded Italian cheese mix in a bag). The whole thing takes about 3 minutes to make and it's YUMMY and healthy!

You don't want to go *too* low calorie in the morning. I read an article that said women who ate full breakfasts were more likely to eat less overall calories during the day. So just make sure it's more than a handful of popcorn or something.

I am a big fan of breakfast burritos. Egg beaters, a slice of nonfat kraft cheddar cheese, a little bit of salsa, and if have them, some chopped green peppers. Cook the egg beaters with the peppers, melt cheese on top, wrap it with a LaTortilla low Carb wrap with a little salsa, and I am good to go.

Breakfast has always been a pain for me. I don't have time in the morning to cook, so I always try to have something quick and healthy. I usually have low sugar oatmeal (which I find filling), or some fat-free yogurt topped with low fat granola and some almonds. On the weekends I'll treat myself to an egg with a piece of whole wheat toast. That's about it!

I love bran with raisins and sunflower or pumpkin seeds, or whatever else I have to sprinkle over the bran.

Not everyones taste but I love it!

I always have porridge cooked with just water with chopped fruit ( you don't need to add sugar or milk then) I always have diced prunes and then add something else, usually bananas, plums, raisins, or strawberries ( whatever I have found reduced!).
In the past I used to have low fat yoghurt mixed with chopped banana pears or strawberries and a sprinkling of pumpkin and seseame seeds.
Yummy.
The porridge will keep you full and feeling well for hours.

This is one of my favorites. I can be set for several days worth of breakfasts with this. Easy, quick and tasty... I also add 6-8 drops of hot sauce in the mixture for just a little bit of a kick...

Veggie Quiche Cups from the South Beach Diet

INGREDIENTS:
3/4 cup liquid egg substitute or 3 large eggs or 3 /4 cup egg whites
1 package frozen chopped spinach (10 oz.)
3/4 cup shredded reduced-fat cheese (I never used reduced fat cheese, can't ever find it)
1/4 cup diced red or green peppers or mixture of both (I also don't use these either)
1/4 cup diced onions
Salt to taste

PREPARATION:
Makes 12 mini-quiches
Need: Foil baking cups, muffin tin, cooking spray, oven

1. Heat oven to 350F

2. Line 12 cup muffin pan with foil baking cups, spray the cups with the cooking spray.

3. Thaw and drain spinach - I wring it out well in my hand, which eliminates a lot of the "spinachy" taste for those who hate boiled spinach.

4. Mix the spinach, egg substitute, cheese, peppers, onions, hot pepper sauce, salt in a bowl.

5. Fill the foil cups with the mixture.

6. Bake at 350F or 20 minutes, testing so that a knife inserted in the middle comes out clean.

7. Remove from cups to serve.

That sounds awesome. I have everything to make it (except the muffin cups, but those are easy enough to find). When it cools down here (my kitchen gets SO hot even with the oven on for only a few minutes), I am definetly going to try this!

You actually don't even need the muffin cups... You can just give a quick rub down with some butter to the sides or use Pam. I ♥ them. Even my hubby likes them.

I have a bowl of All Bran and 1% milk (sorry cannot do fat free) and sliced banana. Or a all fresh fruit smoothie with lowfat vanilla yogurt, ice, and juice.

From the South Beach Diet cookbook with some minor modification:

Oatmeal Pancakes - As satisfying as the real thing with a fraction of the carbs/calories.

Oatmeal Pancakes
1/2 C. oatmeal, old fashioned oatmeal
1/2 C. egg substitute or 4 egg whites
1/3 C. low-fat or f-f cottage cheese
½ t. baking powder
pinch of salt
pinch of cinnamon

Blend in a blender or Magic Bullet. Cook on a griddle
like regular pancakes. Makes about 6 regular size pancakes
or one large plate-size pancake.

Low-Carb Blueberry Syrup

½ C. sugar-free syrup
½ C. fresh or frozen blueberries

Microwave for approximately 2 minutes.

Low carb yogurt)Kroger has their own brand which I love and Walmart has a low carb one too.

Kashie granola

Yogurt cup w/granola has a 27/15 carb protein ratio. I throw a couple strawberries in the mix as well.

I also eat smoked turkey or a ham rollup

This a.m. I had these frozen Western omelets made from Jimmy Dean. I can make my own but don't have time during the week.

They were 5 carbs a piece, I ate the two with about half cup of cantelope. Yummy.

All bran or Kashi cereal with low carb milk.

Typically yogurt and granola or on weekends turkey bacon and eggs and toast (low carb bread)
