Help! I need help finding something for breakfast. My insulin levels are really high so I am trying to cut out sugars and carbs. Here's the problem, I need to be able to eat it on the go. I don't have much time to prepare it and I can't digest dairy very well. The sugar substitutes reak havoc on my stomach. And I love bagels and pastries, all the things I shouldn't eat. Help!

I know this may sound gross , but sometimes for breakfast I just have a pice of beef jerky and they also have little cans of v8 juice , the seasoned and smooth is really good. Or maybe hard boiled eggs. I realized that breakfast dosent mean breakfast foods anymore since starting to low carb , so just go for anything you may like. Hope that helps

Breakie ideas are the worst!!!!!!! I know 'cause I am in the same boat. I am on a low carb and sugar diet for insulin resistance, also.
Can you eat any carbs if they are good like whole stuff ie. whole wheat bread? Well, if you can, try quinoa. It is a grain that is a whole protein and super good for you. You can cook it like rice, on the stove, one cup to 2 cups water and boil. Add apples (if you can have) and other yummies like cinnamon and cloves etc. Put in the fridge. Scoop some in a bowl on the go and throw it in the microwave.
As for the artificial sugars, they kill me too. Have you tried Stevia???? It is not artificial, is derived from a plant and is 300 times sweeter than sugar. It is awesome for your pancreas and does noting to your insulin and best of all. . . . . . no carbs, no cals and no fat AT ALL!!! Buy the stuff that comes in pkg like Splenda 'cause the liquid is not so good
i usually buy my breakfast which consists typically of eggs, ham and potato. i am also trying to find other breakfast meals as well b/c while this egg/ham meal is good for protein, it's bad for cholesterol levels.
i am starting to eat my typical lunch meals for breakfast except in smaller portions. for example, i would have a bit of brown rice, meat and veggies for breakfast...
i find that when i eat a balanced meal - carbs and protein in every meal, esp during breakfast, it gives me more energy to last me the whole day. i also do not get headaches on days that i eat right which means, proper meals and no cheating on unnecessary sweet stuff like chocolates or candies.
You could try instant oatmeal as well. The carbs are low and they help you with energy thruout the day.
Pair it with two boiled eggs. Easy and on the go.

The instant raisin and spice oatmeal that I have contains 36g of carbs per little packet. Maybe plain is a bit lower, but I don't know that it would be lower enough to be called low carb.
A little fruit and some cheese is a nice breakfast. Both can be portable and easy to eat. Or a smoothie with some whey protein added.

I have found that you can wrap just about anything up in a tortilla and eat on the run. For instance, any of the following: scrambled eggs, cheese, ham, cubed chicken, hard boiled egg (mashed up), low-fat peanut butter, tuna salad.
I think it is really important to eat some protein for breakfast and there are not a whole lot of breakfast foods that contain protein. But who says you can't eat chicken burritos for breakfast.
Good luck,

Another oatmeal lover here! I've begun alternating quick oats with Hodgson Mill's oatbran cereal (yum yum). I normally pair mine with yogurt (I know it's high in sugar, but I can't stomach anything but Dannon's LaCreme).
I'm going to try eating it with boiled eggs, or milk.
I also plan to try the stuffed tortillas for breakfast, since I've finally found a brand of w-wheat tortillas I like (Mission).
