Unhappy Breakout from facial waxing!

I have been waxing my eyebrows, upper lip and chin for years without any side effects or problems. A week ago my esthetician (sp?) suggested waxing the side of my face/sideburn area because, although it wasn't dark, it is getting longer.

Now one week later that area is COVERED in heavy acne! It's unbelievable.

Have you had this reaction? What did you do?

I am waiting for an appointment with my dermatologist but in the meantime am completely embarrassed by the condition of my skin.

Help!

I always breakout from waxing. A deratologist once told me that it was due to pulling out the hair from the root and bacteria getting into where the hair follicle once was. I was told to keep the area very clean and use an astringent with salaylic acid to keep the breakout managable. Hope that things clear up soon for you!!

I had the same thing happen to me many times, it got to the point where I still had the breakouts when I needed to go back for another waxing. It was really terrible. I thought perhaps it had something to do with having sensitive skin. Because I used to go really red from it, the beautician would put makeup on me to disguise it, which only made matters worse!! Silly woman didn't think about clogging up my freshly open pores with foundation could possibly not be a good thing.

I stopped waxing for over 2 years now, I use a depilatory cream instead on my chin. It might not last as long as a wax, but at least I don't have to put up with embarassing acne the whole time. I still have scars from it!

Hugs
