Breakthrough Bleeding Right Before My Gyno Visit?! Should I Still Go?
My period ended on June 17 and since I'm due for my yearly visit, I'm out of my birth control pills. Due to work, the earliest I could get in was this Wednesday.
Well yesterday I started spotting and by the end of the day I was bleeding lightly like the very beginning or end of my period.
Today is the same. It's not gushing or anything, but there is quite a bit on the toilet paper when I wipe.
I'm not sure what to do. Can they do the PAP test when you're bleeding or would they even want to? Yuck!
I'm sure I wouldn't be bleeding if I had been able to start a new pill pack, but the last time I ran out of pills, it was almost 6 weeks before I could get in for an appointment and I never had any bleeding. I'm not sure what's going on.
I had an idea to just keep my appointment and tell her that I started bleeding again. I'll let her decide if she wants to go ahead with the exam. At the very least maybe they would give me a new prescription for the pills and have me come back once the bleeding stops.
Has anyone else had this happen? Did you still have the full exam despite having some bleeding?
I would call your doctor and check, usually they dont' want you to be bleeding because it can effect the results of the PAP.
If I know I'm going to be out of pills before I go see my GYN I usually call and she'll give me a pack to get me through.
When I made my appointment last week, I had been bleeding for nearly a month. They told me to come on in since it wasn't too heavy. As a matter of fact, the last PAP and vaginal ultrasound I had done were while bleeding (since it seems as if I'm bleeding more than not. lol). So, it can be done, but I'd still call to see if your doctor still wants to see you.

So I called the doctor's office and told them what was going on. I was okay with having the exam despite the bleeding, but they said they would call in a one month script for my pills and that I should wait until the bleeding stops and then have my exam.
