I am new here so want to introduce myself at the same time as asking a question! I have a long history of being told I have PCOS then idiopathic hirsutism then unexplained fertiltiy then back to 'a variant of PCOS'.
I have had major problems with lumpy and sore breasts on and off for years now. I had some pituitary function tests in October last year and since then I have been having the problem again. I have anovulatory cycles, but do menstruate - however the soreness and lumpiness doesn't get better with my period and is just so painful all the time now. I did see a breast specialist a few years ago who said I have fibrocystic breast disease, but its weird the way it comes and goes and I can have months of being okay and then another 'attack' and it definitely isn't related to my monthly cycle.
Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone know if it is related to PCOS? Anyone know if there is anything that can help?
Well, I can't help you with information. My friend has fibrycystic breasts, but she's never mentioned to me of having painful episodes. But I will give your post a bump up so that maybe someone else will read it.

This is something that is really getting me down at the moment. I've been reading that agnus castus might help with this at the same time as helping with ovulation so I am giving it a try.....

One thing that helped me with the pain was cutting way back on caffeine. I used to drink many diet caffeine filled sodas a day when I was DXd with my lumpy girls. I haven't had bad pains since cutting out the sodas, they are still lumpy just not painful. Cutting out caffeine apparently doesn't work for everybody, but it's worth a shot.
Thanks everyone and etuc for that link. I am very pleased to report that after months of horrible painful boobs after one week taking vitex the pain has greatly improved!! I can now sleep on my stomach again!!! The only thing is I haven't ovulated and it is cd19, but I guess I'll have to be more patient on that one.
I had problems with my breasts too - although i am not diagnosed with what you are. Mine is related to low progesterone...... have you had yours checked?

Thanks Niki,
I have had my progesterone checked a few times during fertility investigations, sometimes it is okay but other times it is borderline or low.....maybe there is a connection as my breast pain comes and goes.
