So I go in tomorrow to have a consultation with a plastic surgeon for a breast reduction and I'm very nervous! In the beginning I was so excited and looking forward to getting the ball rolling but now that my consultation is upon me I'm having more reservations. I feel like maybe I'm not too big (38F) and I just want a lift but insurance won't cover just a lift. Also, I've recently lost 41lbs (I'm 5'3" and 159) and I know I could schedule the appt a couple months out and lose at least another 15lbs by then but what if I want to lose more after that and I lose more breast tissue and end up too small.
Thoughts???
ETA...I have lots of pain and tension in my back and shoulders and indentions in my shoulders from my bra straps.

I can only speak for myself. I had one 10 years ago & still swear it was the best thing I'd ever done. I lost more weight afterward & didn't notice a difference, however since I've gained weight....
For my neck & back it was really worthwhile. I was so nervous beforehand that I almost passed out.
I admire you for your courage. Actually scheduling the consultation is a big step. I'd love to have the guts to have one myself ,but I'm too scared. The recovery time doesn't sound too pleasant and I'm not really ready emotionally to have one yet.
I hope you have a good appointment, and an uneventful surgery. Lots of luck!
I went through a breast reduction in Sept 2004 and I don't regret one thing about it!!! Granted it was a really long process to go through Phys. Theropy, then I had to get dr. reccommendations, then the insurance company was a pain, etc!! In the end it all worked out and I couldn't be happier! Good luck with everything and I hope it all works out!
I had mine done in march 04 and I don't regret it one bit I have gained nad lost weight since and it has still been a godsend I had the backaches the neck pain the indentations in my shoulders before I went for mine I had always thought I was a 44dd well on the day of my consult I was properly measured for once and according to my plastic surgeon I was a 42 GG I was also told to ocme back and see him when I am done having my children because he said I iwll need a redo inorder to maintain the benefits each extra pound on your chest is 7 on your back and neck they removed a total of 7 pounds from my breasts after the reduction I was a 38 C
Even when I was at my slimest (139lbs) I was still a 32FF!!! I nearly fainted when the woman told me and made her measure me again. The ribs measurement went down 6 inches (Id lost 45lbs) but the tits stayed just as big in relation to my ribs. I walked out of the shop in denial, I was aiming for a C cup atleast, so I could wear pretty underwear and stuff! I went back to another shop and got the same measurement so I gave up arguing with the shop assistants and got a proper bra....
Ofcourse my weight didnt stay off, I started eating junk again and gained a lot back. My breasts and back problems grew along with it. Im currently a 36E. Im trying to lose weight again. I dont know if I could go through a reduction... Maybe after getting to 130 lbs they will be moderately more comfortable

I saw the PS today and we set a date! Oct 3rd! That gives me two months to try to drop 20 more pounds!!! I'm still a bit reluctant though as I just don't want to end up too small!!

I'd try to drop as much weight as you can before hand - I had a friend who was about 250 when she had hers done....now she's about 110, and had no boobs left.
Of course, that may not be as much of an issue for you. I know mine don't change that much when I gain/lose weight. I lost 30 lbs and one point and lost less than half a cup. Its just inches around that change.
I wear a 38DD because its the biggest I can find that doesn't cover my entire chest up to my chin. Last time I was measured, I was somewhere around a 38G, but its not exactly easy to find bras that size, so I just keep smashing myself into these small bras. I waffle on having my boobs done.... I think I will do it when I save enough money to have a tummy tuck as well. With just the reduction, I feel like I'd look so disproportionate with my big fat belly and little boobs.
