    Unhappy Breast Tenderness

I was diagnosed with PCOS last summer (2002) but have only visited the boards a handful of times. My PCOS story is a long one, but to make it short, I was put on Desogen, and had my period for 3 months. After that I took myself off the meds (on the suggestion of possibly doing so by my OB/GYn) and did not see her again for nearly a year. I know, it was bad, but I was at college and could not make it home to see her. Anyhow. I recently went to see her and she switched me to Yasmin. I was curious if anyone here has taken it? and what their opinions on its effectiveness.

Secondly, I have yet to begin the medication, but have recently began to feel extreme tenderness in my left breast... Of course I have become paranoid about breast cancer, but being only 23, I know thte chances are slim. I have found NO lumps, but the pain gets increasingly bad daily. It often extends into my shoulder and back. Has anyone else suffered from this? could it be a hormonal pain? I haven't had my period in a while, and since I'm not yet on teh meds, I'm not sure when I will begin again. I know I should talk to my OB/GYn again, but she says not to worry, pain is seldom an indication of a problem (so did my primary care dr.).

Thank you for providing such a great communtiy!

    Default Been There Too

I understand about the pain. I also went through a period of having a lot of breast tenderness. I think it just had to do with hormones and it eventually went away. I don't think you should be worried. Also the tenderness my be a sign that AF is coming up. Good Luck and if it doesn't go away talk to your doctor again.

I been taking calcium citrate with vitamind D. It has helpled my breast tenderness. I had read some articles that you should take it with magnesium. So when I run out of the one I have I'm goin to try it with magnesium. I take 600 mgs a day. I think you should research it and see if it's something you would want to try.

I've read in a lot of places that Evening Primrose Oil helps with breast tenderness. I've been taking it for years and haven't had any problems.

Also, the calcium/magnesium combination is supposed to be very good as well.

I had this for ages, then tried Evening Primrose Oil, which helped a bit. The big change came when I switched to only organic dairy products. Now the only time I have breast tenderness is when I'm PMSing (rare).
