Default Breastfeeding and PCOS

So. . .I have a 10 day old infant. surprisingly with PCOS it did not take me forever to get pregnant like I thought it would (thank God). Now that babe's here safe and sound, I'm once again reminded of this crazy syndrome. . .I'm having a REALLY hard time with breastfeeding and supply.

I understand this can be PCOS-related. Wondering if anyone here has experience with this and what they did to help it? I plan on BFing long-term and hope that this milk supply issue doesn't hinder it. . . I'm really anxious about this . . . and worried. I don't want to have to use formula (we've been supplementing an ounce at a time to keep babe's weight up).

TIA!

I have a 10 month old and also had supply problems. I took fenugreek and alfalfa and it worked. I did not get tons of milk, but enough to feed her. Good luck

I drank a lot of Organic Mother's Milk Tea. It is made by Traditional Medicinals and I see it at Kroger Grocery Store, and Publix Grocery Store. It is also sold at health food stores. It doesn't have the fenugreek or alfalfa that Baby Dreams suggested, so it might be a good addition if you try those.
Good luck to you and your little one!

If you supplement it will affect your milk supply. your milk supply isnt established until about 6 weeks. i breastfed my daughter til she was about a year and a half. ask your doc but lactation consultants have a lot of good advice on breastfeeding too. my daughter would nurse forever if i let her. make sure the baby is awake and actually sucking too. those little buggers tend to nod off. i nursed every 2 hours most of the time in the beginning. Good Luck, breastfeeding is a wonderful feeling and amazing way to bond. I hope it works out for you.

Default no problems here

I haven't had problems. I have a four month old. I've never supplemented. But I would see a lactation consultant! I took a breastfeeding class before I had my son and met with an LC during my hospital stay. She was the most positive person! She told stories of how people overcome everything to BF, but it is work. I wouldn't supplement either. It does affect your supply. You'll end up losing in the end. But get help before you just change things to make sure Baby is OK!

Good luck!
