Hey all

A bit about myself: I'm 23 yo and was diagnosed with PCOS just over 3 years ago. The dr prescribed me with Metformin (500mg 3x daily) and Diane-35 to help regulate my periods, the excess hair, high testosterone level and the insulin resistance.

I've used Metformin since that point in time, but decided to come off the pill after only using it a couple months due to feeling incredibly emotional and felt like I was hitting depression. Upon reflection, I think that would have happened regardless of the pill as the news of my diagnosis was still raw and hurt me a lot (I've always wanted to have kids someday and to have that threatened hit me hard).

I managed to lose a bit of weight and with the Metformin my periods are finally regular without the pill - woo!! So anyway, I started seeing someone a few weeks ago and decided it might be a good idea to go on the pill - again. Considering my other symptoms, particularly the excess hair, I decided to try Diane-35 again (got the generic Brenda-35).

Has anyone out there found Diane-35 to be useful in reducing the excess hair? I've got fine, dark hairs on my tummy (I've got black hair), my back and even on my breasts which really bugs me. How long should I be trialling this out to see if there's gonna be results?

Cheers
Nida

My honest advice to you is to stay with the Metformin, and stay off of Diane-35.

Diane works for some people while they are on it, but once you stop, the hair comes back with a vengance, and the weight can really pile on. Tag on scalp hair loss, and this has been my experience.

I think it is a truly wonderful thing for you that Metformin is working. Your cycles are regulating, and in time that will translate throughout your body/other symptoms. Continue to manage your weightloss and this will be better for your hair growth in the long-run and will yield much longer results then Diane.

Hi Nida! I would not take Diane-35. I used to take it for 3 years and now I have a benign tumor in my liver. I have started reading about Diane and in some countries it is even banned, since it is too dangerous. It increases the risk of blood clots by at least four times more than other birth control pills.

I have some hair on my back, tummy and even on my breasts. Diane didn't help at all.
