Default Britains Most Popular Diet: A Tonight Special

Hello

I was just looking through next weeks tv paper and have seen that on Fri 15 Nov at 8pm there's a Tonight Special one off documentary on the Atkins Diet. It's on ITV1.

Hi Eva,

Thanx for posting this. I did a lot of research on Atkins since it seemed the best diet for me to go on. But I found so many negative aspects, that I was afraid.

I am very interested to see what this programme says!

Take care,
Dani

That was the cherry on the cake for me (mmmm, cake). I had misgivings, but am now going to burn the Atkins books I bought.

Hey guys, I am low carbing, but not atkins as I dont think it is healthy to put your body into a state of ketosis on purpose, and watching that show just confirmed it for us! We (my partner and I) are doing Protein Power Life Plan (by Eades). You achieve weight loss, eat high protein and moderate fat (good fats!), but low (30-40g) carbs. You can eat fruit, veg hey even bread as there are 3 levels (purist - read VERY strict, only organic and NO grains or dairy, medium - dairy but little or no grains, and the free and easy where you can pretty much eat what you want as long as you dont go over the 30-40g carbs/day). We've found it tricky with eating out, and it is more expensive to eat so much meat, but it has done wonders for my PCOS symptoms (I'm pg!), and my partner who is hypothyroid and has obvious IR problems now has no more blood sugar dips. We also lost some weight ( me about 3kg, I am now 59kg), and my partner has also lost some (I'd say the same if not a little more). You do feel a bit icky for 3-4 days, but that goes, and you feel fine.Oh, and you do need to drink atleast 2L of water/day!

Just my 2p worth about low carb diets to say they aren't all bad.

Yes, I thought it was interesting. You'd not catch me doing this diet now!
