bronchitis/upper respiratory infect while pregnant
anyone have either of these while pregnant?
Doc thinks I have bronchitis and I did my antibiotics (5 days zithromax) and also several days prednisone (which I finish tomorrow) and am using an albuterol inhaler if needed.
I also had to have 4 total albuterol nebulizer breathing treatments earlier this week as the wheezing and shortness of breath got bad enough. It seems to be be getting better, however, when I move around too much I get short of breath and whoozy for a while and have to lay down until it passes (anywhere from 1/2 hour to an hour or so).
my basic questions are...how long does this shortness of breath problem last...if it is indeed bronchitis? how much longer should I let it go until I get checked again? Like I said, it seems to be gradually, very slowly improving, but its still here and affecting my life.
I'm 23 weeks pregnant.
I had something like this when I was preg with my daughter. I had asthma as a child but outgrew it by the time I was in junior high. The wheezing came and went for about a week, I would wake up in the middle of the night gasping. I was about 20 weeks preg when it started. I had it about a week though I guess.
I think it was changes in my hormones, my eczema got really bad around this time as well.

When I was 10 weeks I had an Upper Resp Infection with a double ear infection. They gave me some kind of penicillin med and I started to feel better after 5 days of the antibiotics. I would call your dr and just ask them, you should have lessening symptoms daily. I hope you feel better soon!
I did feel like I got hit by a truck and had to stay home from work for almost a week

I am 33 weeks with this now 6 breathing treatments. i am still pretty sick. Mine lasted about 7 days till I could walk up the stairs with out feeling like a 200 lb guy is sitting on me

thanks for the responses...I'm happy to say the past few days have been tremendously better. I still can't go out and exercise or over exert myself in any way, but I've made it out of the house. I have not had any severe shortness of breath for 2 days!
Things are looking better. thank goodness! i'd say the severest symptoms of the bronchitis lasted 7 days. Even though this crud has been around for over a month...coughing mainly. good luck to all who are sick. its been a tough time for lots lately.
