Default Brownish spots?

Hi everyone!

Just wondering if anyone else has these brownish patches on their knees? I have a little bit of discoloration under my breasts and between my legs at times, but I have noticed one on my knee for the past few months which I thought was a bruise at first. I was diagnosed with PCOS in March and am starting to learn more about it. Last week I was put on Met and am hoping this will help with everything! I was just mildly concerned because while I've read that the acanthosis nigricans are caused by insulin resistance/pcos, it is also associated with other conditions. (I am a major hypochondriac!!!). Please help to quell my anxiety. Thanks in advance.

Lauren

Thats exactly what it sounds like is ancanthosis nigricans, I used to have the brown spots behind my knees but they have disappeared. I also have it under my breast, on the back of my neck, inside of thighs and under my arms. I hate it and wish there was something to do for it but so far I haven't found anything. I know it may sound crazy but I have noticed that it lightens up when I cut way back on my soft drinks...I dunno know i probably has nothing to do with it but who knows LOL

Thanks for your replies. I am still stressing out about this brown spot on my knee, as I have read that these spots can also be a symptom of cancer. I'm trying to think logically and realize that I DO have PCOS and since these are a symptoms of PCOS, that's why I have them!! I just get worked up about these things and need some stress relief.
