She also did my chin for the first time which again didn't hurt too much but I've been left with a ring of bruising, which is white in the middle. Luckily it's under my chin so I can hide it a bit at work - not sure what I'm going to say if anyone notices.
I'm a bit reluctant to go back to the same beautician if its going to hurt this much and leave me bruised. Is this normal or should I be looking for somewhere else to go? I've also been wondering if laser would be a better option. Anyone got any advice? |
There are just so many variables in the equation
the operator
the equipment
the skill and training of the operator
your sensitivity to pain
your sensitivity to bruising
your sensitivity to scarring
whether or not you've ever plucked the hair growing from that follicle
the coarseness of the hair
how long it's been coarse
the growth phase of the hair
how delicate your skin is
and a whole lot more.
Electrolysis is aimed at destruction of the hair root. Skin and hair are very similar in composition. Whatever is strong enough to be fatal to the hair root will certainly be traumatic for the surrounding flesh and skin, especially if the hair is coarse, long-established and even more so it it has been plucked before.
Electrolysis can be remarkably effective for some individuals in some circumstances, but it's never a soft option.
If she was trying to treat really coarse hairs, then I'd tend to think that the pain and bruising were the result of trying to deal with particularly difficult growth. If on the other hand she was treating very fine hair, then I'd tend to think that either you're unusually sensitive or she's not perhaps as capable as some others.
