Unhappy Bruising - Can any of these med's cause this??

Synthroid
Gloucophage XR
Lexapro

I have been getting A LOT of bruises on myself the last few weeks. I don't remember ever hurting myself or hitting myself on anything. This evening when I was changing my clothes I noticed a REALLY big bruise with 2 other small ones right beside it on my leg. Plus I have about 4 other ones on myself right now.

I'm just wondering if maybe it could be caused by the med's i'm on. Have any of you had this problem??

I think lexapro could cause bruising, but I'm sure. DH had been on that and one other and he was bruising quite easily, but I'm not sure which med it was that was doing it (can't remember the name of the other med he had been taking). He had been taking them at different times. I'll ask him about it.

You might want to have your doctor check your iron levels, to check for anemia. That can definitely be a cause for the bruising.

Hope you figure it out.

Thanks for such a fast responce. I actually was just tested for anemia. It came back normal. I have had a little bit of an elevated white blood cell count the last few months. The Dr is keeping an eye on that. Maybe that is what's causing it. I was just wondering if maybe it could be one of these drugs that I'm on that could be causing it.

Oh, good, you already had that tested.

I asked DH and it was the combo of wellbutrin and paxil that his doctor said was causing the bruising. The lexapro, he said he only took that very briefly. So now I really don't know; sorry! I've been on both the other meds you mentioned (take the generic metER now instead of the glucXR) and didn't have any bruising, but that's doesn't mean they can't cause it.

I'll let you know if I come across info on them. Wish I had a better answer for you!

I'm on Glucophage and Yasmin and I bruise very easily.. look like someone's used me as a punch bag at times. If you find out what's causing it I'd love to know..

I've had problems bruising for years. In fact, just got a huge one on the leg & have no clue where it came from! I've been on and off different Rx meds but none for hormone problems yet. I'm wondering if it could be caused by hormone disorders. I think I read it was a symptom of Cushing's, but I'd have to double check. If anyone else knows, I'd like to know too!

Me too! I was just noticing a series of bruises on my legs the other day that are quite large and sensative to the touch. And I don't remember doing anything to cause injury.
