belrose - I just wanted to mention that there is now another supplier for DCI supplements. It's now down to $33 a bottle. I just ordered some myself to try and am waiting for it to arrive. It's called All Natural DCI.
Hi Natbean,
Thanks for replying. I hate to admit this, but I googled "all natural DCI" and couldn't come up with anything other than the Chiral Balance shop. I guess I flunk the technology thing Would you mind giving me a link to your source please?
Thanks very much.
I recently found DCI on Amazon.com for 1/2 the price. However, I must warn everyone that the site linked to this product (dchiroinositol.com/), although professional does not have any specific company information, or company history or anything that could make me believe that this web site or business is a legitimate operation. I did order one bottle and it got here on time, but when I saw the very generic packaging I became a little suspicious and decided to look into it a bit more. After all, it is my health and I want to make sure I am taking supplements that are of the best quality and since none of these are regulated, anyone can sell anything, especially over the Internet.
The DCI I bought over at Amazon.com came from a company called Discover Nutrition, Inc in Irving CA (no specific address). However, after a business name search under the state of CA for that name I could not find such a corporation (kepler.ss.ca.gov/list.html). The web site discovernutrition.com advertises another health product and has the same kind of set up (no company info or credentials), so they may be related. I did not spend any more time trying to validate the company or their product. I simply decided not to take it.
Since this is such a rare and expensive item to get, I then visited chiralbalance.com to see if they could legitimize themselves any better. At a glance, this site seems very legitimate; it is very professional and appealing and has important information such as research and studies (not conducted by the company), a doctor leaflet (which lists info Drs already know to diagnose PCOS) and lastly a company page with a beautiful picture of the skyline of Austin Texas. Doesn’t it make you think that they have an office in one of those fancy buildings? Well, I Googled their address, and found that it leads to a house. Yes, a house! Would you buy medicine from your next-door neighbor, or would you walk up to a complete stranger’s house and buy medicine from them? Not knowing where and how they’ve been packaged and most importantly what is in them? I also looked them up in the BBB of Austin Texas and they did not come up!
I am like many of you trying to find an answer and a solution for the many symptoms of PCOS that afflict our daily lives. I have no further proof that these business are legitimate or not, but after what I have discovered, I refuse to buy supplements over the Internet. All I am saying is BEWARE! There are many people out there praying on the pain of others! Do your research before you put your health in the hands of others.
I ordered my Buckwheat Farinetta from Minddak.com as well. All of the articles I've read give me hope that it would work. I can't wait to try the recipes on specialcrops.mb.ca/crops/buckwheat.html. and the muffin recipe mentioned above. Thanks for the info!
I emailed the NZ manufacturer of DCI (only manufacturer in the world that I am aware of) and tried to buy some direct, but they referred me to one of their customers ... chiralbalance.com based in Texas. I know this doesn't answer any questions regarding their processing practices, but at least it authenticates the base substance that they work with. New Zealand Pharmaceuticals wwwDOTnzpDOTcoDOTnz was the company I contacted. Apologies for the funky web address, I apparently haven't made enough posts to be permitted yet.
Hi all, I started reading all the posts on the site a little over a month ago when my obgyn showed me on an ultrasound why I wasn't getting my period since going off the pill (and trying to get pregnant,) in May... When the ultrasound showed the multiple cysts, but the bloodwork showed that I didn't have 'full-blown' pcos- just polycystic ovaries, I went online right away to see about natural ways solve this problem- I bought buckwheat farinetta from MinnDak and it was delivered about a month ago and every since, I've been adding a tablespoon to my morning wheat grass and yogurt smoothie. I just found out that I'm 2 wks pregnant (I know, VERY early to be excited, but can't help it...especially when my obgyn showed a month ago all the cysts on my ovaries and told me that I can do things like take Chlomid, etc to try to get pregnant...) ANYWAY- my big question for any/all of you is this: do any of you have experience continuing to consume the buckwheat farinetta AFTER confirming pregnancy? I've looked at the nutritional content at the MinnDak website and it seems to have A LOT of nutrients, but am wondering if it's an overload that the fetus might not respond well too... Any thoughts from anyone out there? I'm afraid now to stop having my morning tbs of the farinetta, but also afraid to keep using it... ug! thx for your thoughts!

Wow Congratulations!!!
I dont see why you could not continue...but i would definately tell the Dr...I wrote the people at the chiralbalance website and they said it was safe to take the pills during pregnancy...so with that i would not think its bad but you never know...i would let your doc know and maybe even give him the info form thier site and the doc leaflet packet from the chiralbalance.com site so he or she can look it over...
Good luck and Congrats again!

Thank you for the thoughts (and the 'congrats!') DCBailey! The MinnDak website has a detail page on the exact nutrients, etc, so I'll print it out and bring it into my dr-
CTbaby - That's an incredible story! Congratulations I'm now going to order the buckwheat farinetta online and give it a try. Maybe I'll be pregnant early 2009 . . . Here's to hoping . . .
Just out of curiosity, but is anyone using any buckwheat product OTHER than the farinetta? The reason I ask is, right now, the farnietta is definitely well out of my budget but the local grocery stores have buckwheat flour and buckwheat groats that I can actually afford.
Has anyone using a farinetta alternative seen any results?
Thanks in advance

Lexibelle - The main reason for using BW Farinetta is it's high content of DCI (D-chiro-inisotol) I can't access the Minn-dak nutrition information site for BW products from here, but I believe if you go to http://minndak.com/factsofbuckwheat.htm It will list out the DCI content for farinetta, flour, groats, etc. Each nutrient breakdown is based on 100g of BW product and if I remember correctly farinetta contains like 4x the amount (1781mg???) than the next BW product does. So eating another form of BW will provide some small amounts of DCI, but will not come anywhere to the DCI study levels of 600mg or 1200mg of DCI, that or you would have to eat ALOT of another type of BW product to get to those levels of DCI. Thanks for the link, I'll take a look at it. Unfortunately, the prices for the farinetta are just too far out of my reach. I guess I'll have to make due with what I can afford. :\
