I just ordered the Buckwheat Farinetta and I can't wait to try it. Where can I get the Soy Lecithin? Also, does anyone know where I can get some carob syrop?
You can usually get soy lecithin as either a powder or pill form at most major food stores that have a good health section where the vitamins are. Walmart, target and most grocery stores carry it. GNC also carries it, but it's probably more expensive there. Carob syrup is usually found in the organic section of a good grocery store, I think, although I've never bought carob syrup. HTH Dianna

I have not been able to find carob syrup in any retail stores (health food, supermarket etc) in Australia, but have found a place where you can buy it direct from the farmer ... http://www.carob.com.au/ I presume they would send it overseas.
I am going to order some of the buckwheat farinetta from MinnDak - can anyone give me an idea of how long it may take to get it? Also, I found some vegan carob chips (they look like chocolate chips) at my local Meijer so I think I'll throw some of those into the muffin recipe!

"I prayed for this child, and the LORD has granted me what I asked of him." I Samuel 1:27
It took me about 5 days to get my farinetta. I got my period after being on it a month. I think it was the farinetta, but I also am taking chinese herbs....but I had been taking the herbs for a long time and no period.....we'll see. I'll keep everyone posted. Im not exercising, or changing diet, just the muffins and the herbs. Its about 23 dollars for the 4 lb bag, and I go through it in about a month. So, thats less than a dollar a day. Alot less expensive than the DCI from chiral balance, and much less expensive than going to the RE!!!
Hi, I was taking DCI from food sources (carob, soy lecithin, chickpeas etc) earlier in the year, with good results AF after VERY long absence) but have recently switched to 100% pure DCI powder from www.mypcos.info It's a heap cheaper than Chiral Balance or that other website mentioned earlier in the thread and the lady who runs it is very nice - she has PCOS as well.
I bought 3 months' worth (180 grams as I am taking up to 2 grams a day based upon my weight) for $250 AUD. 180 grams is equal to 10 bottles of the 300mg x60 capsule size and at the time Chiral Balance was charging $320 USD for 240 x 600 mg capsules (or 144 grams) so it would have cost me something like $600 AUD including postage - more than double what www.mypcos.info charged me.
Just thought you girls might like to know there's more competition in the DCI marketplace now which can only be a good thing for us!

Thank you for the info about the other company. I bought from chiral balance 2 months ago and just reordered, but may consider the other company.
I got AF one month after eating the muffins, and so far 2 months into the capsules - no AF. I wonder if there is something better from a natural food source for me? The muffins are good, I just dont want to make them weekly, and the capsules are much more convenient.
Hi Ladies, this is my first entry (and it's a long one) but I think it's an encouraging one. I just wanted to share that after 5 years of TTC, I got pregnant after 1 mos of farinetta muffins and I encourage you to try it. I can't believe how easy it was after years of torture/frustration/pain with fertility treatments. I'm 31 yrs old, 5'6" and 130 lbs and also suffer from IBS but I truly believe that it is related to the PCOS or endometriosis.
I rarely ovulate on my own (3-4 times/yr) and have tried metformin, Letrozole, Chlomid. I conceived on Metformin 2 yrs ago but miscarried at 11 weeks. With that pregnancy, I did not have any nausea or fatigue..should have guessed that something was off.
After that disappointment, I took 2 yrs off of fertility treatments to mend emotionally/physically and tried natural methods (acupuncture, chinese herbs, low carb diet, no dairy/wheat, osteopathic treaments, exercise) but yet would not ovulate regularily and did not concieve. I booked an appt with the fertility specialist again and I ordered the farninetta and got to baking. By the time I went to my appt, they saw on blood tests/ultrasound that I was about to ovulate on 'my own' (thank you farinetta) and the size of the follicle and my uterine lining was the best that they had seen to date (and trust me, they've seen many 'forced' ovulations over the course of 5 yrs of fertility drugs). To my shock, I got pregnant naturally. I think the Farinetta got to the root issue of irregular blood sugar control/hypoglycemia/IR and my healthy ovulation was proof of this. Also, I think it helped that I was relaxed at home going about a normal routine rather than going to the dreaded/depressing fertility clinic and being poked and prodded...stressful
I am now 12 weeks pregnant, nauseous as hell, but am optimistic this time things will turn out. I've been taking fish oil capsules 2x/day and using Cyto-Matrix prenatal vitamins.
Below is the recipe I used for my muffins...I intended to make these throughout my pregnancy but unfortunately my nausea won't let me. I've also included a sprouted buckwheat 'oatmeal' that I eat for breakfast now because even though D-chiro-inositol is not as concentrated in the groats as in the Farnietta flour, it's still there (this breakfast is very easy to digest for those with GI issues like myself because it's raw and the enzymes are activated via sprouting).
Farnetta Muffins:
1/3 cup soya lecithin (I used NOW brand)
1 cup water
1/4 cup oil (I used olive)
1/4 cup honey (can also use agave nectar)
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla (optional)
1 cup Farninetta
1/3 cup carob
2 tsp baking powder (get the non-aluminum kind. I found it in a health food store)
1/4 tsp baking soda
3/4 tsp cinammon
1) Blend lecithin, water, oil, honey, eggs, vanilla in one bowl
2) In another bowl, mix Farinetta, carob, baking powder, baking soda, cinammon
3) Pour first bowl into second and mix. Spoon into greased (with butter so they don't stick) muffin tin.
4) Bake for ~18 min at 350F
NOTE: To make the muffins more interesting, I would add things like shredded coconut, frozen blueberries etc and reduce the amount of honey accordingly so they weren't overly sweet. Also, for those with egg allergies, I would use 1 banana to make the muffins hold together but I think I had to make small adjustments to the rest of the ingredients (sorry I can't remember how much) but the banana makes the muffins tasty too.
Buckwheat 'oatmeal' recipe
- Soak raw groats for 4-6 hrs (note: do not buy roasted groats as they will not sprout)
- Sprout them for 2 days and rinse 3 or more times per day while sprouting.
- Blend them with cinnamon, apple or dates, almond milk (optional)
Girls, never, never, ever give up no matter how hard it gets...whenever you need to, take a step back, cry and breath, then get your game face on and go for it again. Holding in the frustrations is counter productive. Crying is a great release and gets the endorphins up so you end up feeling better after.
There is a girl in Toronto that is praying for all SoulCysters. For all others who try the Farinetta, keep the other girls posted about how it works for you. I was apprehensive about trying it because there were so few postings about its success.
What a wonderful post - thank you for sharing and CONGRATULATIONS on achieving a natural pregnancy.
I love the recipe - it has so many things which are good for PCOS in it, you really did your research.
I hope your morning sickness eases up now you are approaching the 2nd trimester.
If not, have you tried ginger tea? Just stick a bit of grated ginger or a few thin slices of fresh ginger into a cup of boiling water, steep for 5-10 minutes and drink - it really helped me. Red raspberry leaf is a good thing to take from the 2nd trimester onwards to help strengthen the uterus and make for an easier labour.

I may have to give it a shot again. But I could not stand the taste of the muffins.
Maybe I will mix it with a bran muffin mix or something.
Agreed. The taste can be, uh, 'overwhelming'. Try substituting an egg with a banana and add things you like to the muffins. I found frozen blueberries to help as did the vanilla and coconut. Anything to disguise the taste!
I have yet to try this but perhaps pancakes out of Farinetta would be a nice change? That way you could put things like almond butter, chopped fruit etc on it and it might taste ok?
Hi Tamara, the recipe I posted makes a bit less than a dozen muffins (I made the muffins on the smaller side i.e. the batter only filled 3/4 of each of the individual muffin spots on the tray).
I would double or triple the recipe to make more (because I'm not a fan of baking) and then keep them in the fridge.
I usually ate 1 a day but if for some reason I had a higher carb day, I would eat two.
My diet is generally pretty clean and I tried to only get my carbs through whole grains (I really like cooked quinoa for breakfast with nuts, coconut, cinammon, some fruit), beans/lentils, and lower glycemic fruit (but trust me, I deviated from my diet when tempted ). I found when I ate the muffins that I was satiated and did not crave carbs as much. When I wanted something sweet, I usually ate an apple with almond butter and that would do the trick (sweet and fatty tricks the taste buds .
