It is possible it is a vitamin deficiency. Thrush is usually white patches on the tongue/throat. The bumps might just be swollen papillae, which is pretty normal. There's also such a thing as "furry tongue" although the cause escapes me.
I also have cracks in my tongue, if that's what you mean. I went to an acupuncturist, and it is supposedly caused by excess heat in chinese medicine (which is what I was diagnosed with). Excess hormones (such as progesterone, bcp's, stim meds) can cause excess heat (which hormone treatment depletes yin/fluids - so therefore the heat), so yes, it if you go by chinese medicine, it could be from the hormones. And yes, my tongue hurt too. But the pain has subsided with chinese medicine. Excess heat/yin deficiency is also detrimental to fertility.
