My Mood: Points: 2,421.81 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 2,421.81 | Burning Abdomen? Hi,
I just had my doctor's appt. last week and my ovaries had mature follicles (two on one side, one on the other) so my doc gave me an HCG shot, saying it would help me ovulate since I had not yet (at day 13 after period). I could not find more info on how the HCG shot works except that HCG it helps to prepare the uterus for the baby and is detected during pregnancy. Has anyone had this shot?
Four days or so after the shot, and after being with dh 3-5 times, I started feeling uneasiness in my stomach, burning, and some sharp pains on either side off and on, when I move around they are worse, bad enough that I would grab my stomach when they happened, but just as quickly they disappear. They don't feel like cramps. Is this normal with preganancy?
I have felt that burning sensation, and some pains equal to these before my period. I have the burning sensations almost constantly, and it even wakes me up in the morning. I have it right now. I don't think this is from an enlarged cyst which I have had before.
I hope this is consistent with pregnancy. DH and I would be overjoyed! It could also be from a little bit of hyperstimulation, which can happen when an HCG shot is used -- ovaries get swollen and painful. It would be early to have this signify pregnancy just 4 days after your shot. From your sig it looks like you're testing tomorrow. Good luck!

It was a BFN on 3/14. Oh well. I think the burning may have been a result of my Metformin in combo with all the other meds. Since I have never been diagnosed w/ IR, I think I'm going to take a break this cycle from met and just focus on the fertility meds. My doc wants to go straight to IVF but I think that is a last resort and too soon. I have a few more refills of Femara that I I'm going to start today.
(I think it's time to change doctors!)

I did 3 cycles of Femara/Met/trigger shot/IUI before that too, ovulated every time (because of the shot) but didn't get pg. Then I did 3 cycles on just Met (it ended up regulating my cycles after a few months) and got pg! There are more reasons to be on Met, besides just for IR. Just my opinion...

My Mood: Points: 2,421.81 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 2,421.81 | Hi ShellBell,
Since it was in between doctor's and only for one cycle, I thought, might as well try to get off Met this last cycle. I continued with Femara on CD 3-7 and must have OV later than CD 11-14 (maybe CD18?) and the LH test didn't pick it up. I also tested for pregnancy, but it was negative. Must have been too early to detect since I just found out I'm 3 wks pregnant. Let's see if it holds. My RE had wanted me to stop Met to test my glucose before, so I haven't started on it since finding out. Hopefully I'll be fine, although I've been bleeding a bit.
