i emerged from my cocoon on a warm summer day
never to look back
forgot those dreary walls that nurtured
and left me caged for what seemed like
eternity
wings still damp and tentative
i tried to fly
longing for somewhere better
the somewhere of my dreams
where the sky is blue
and flowers are pink and red and yellow
so tentative was i, hopping from stem to leaf
when my wings were too tired to go on
blindly trudging from stalk to bud
i rested, wings folded around me now
like the cocoon of my loathing
i slept and dreamed
of rebirth on the morrow

thanks. i kind of write in spurts. it's most intense when i'm getting manic, right before af or when i'm working on therapy issues.

i had mentally *written* a really great poem in my head the other night as i was falling asleep, and i forgot the dang thing!
