My new insurance pays for my Metformin 100% and supposedly all diabetes supplies/meds are 100% covered but I'm not on Byetta anymore.

| Registered User | I can empathize. I can not tolerate any of the other insulin sensitizers. I have tried them all with horrible GI side effects. When my endo prescribed Byetta he told me that it could make me nauseous, but I believe I can handle that a lot better than the previous situation with the other meds. (It wasn't pretty!) My insurance company repeatedly denied authorization because I didn't have a Type 2 diabetes diagnosis. My endo even wrote a letter of appeal explaining that treatment was necessary, and I couldn't tolerate the other choices etc. They still denied it. (We have TRICARE, which I affectionately refer to as TRICRAP.) In a wonderful twist of fate, the pharmacy here on our base was willing to fill my scripts w/o following the formulary guidelines. I should be able to start the medication this Wednesday. Best of luck in your fight. |

(actually most endos won't rx it unless you are an official diabetic)

I looked into it a little more and it is just any injections in the pen-form such as Byetta. So I pay $250/mo out of pocket plus the needles. | |
