Default Byetta?

I was diagnosed with type 2 about 2 months ago. I am on Metformin (which I've been on since 2001) and now the 10mg of Byetta. It is kicking my butt. (both in the metaphorical and literal sense.)

I am just wondering who else is on this stuff and how it compares to other diabetes medications?

You know all I can think now is "Dude, PCOS punked me." lol!

i was taking byetta. It didn't help me at all. except i was losing weight from being sick. I was tired, and i had developed insomnia. I started getting red, itchy patches on my belly and thighs around injection sites. I didn't see a change in my glucose levels and A1Cs until i started taking Januvia. I have MUCH better results with Januvia. I was told that my physical reactions to Byetta are not typical-whatever that means. I with you luck with it.

Cool Double whammy?

My doc actually took me OFF Metformin and put me on the Byetta. I think my body "outgrew" the met (was on it 8 years). I don't think my body could handle BOTH. How bad are your AICs? Wonder why they had you on both? Doc actually told me Januvia had lots of side effects. WHO'S RIGHT????

Thanks for the replies. Like you I've been on met for almost 9 years. Now, I am not as sick. I may have an ulcer which is causing most of the tummy trouble. If I am only on Metformin my sugars are still high (172 range) but with the byetta it is 97ish. Which is a great improvement from over 400. Just have to watch what I eat.
