I thought I would make a new post those of us on Byetta or wanting to be on it.
I saw that Julie asked in her last post in the "Have you heard" post about the Byetta I know of some people that are on Byetta that have ranges in the 300's so that is weird. But if your suppose to be on insulin then listen to your doctor.
I have been on it for 7 1/2 months I have only lost 20lbs I say "only" because I had other expectations about this drug like major weight loss. But you have to help it, help you and I am not doing that, so it's all my fault. Anyway my A1C went from 8 to 6 in 2 months so the doctor was happy about that. I went on the 10mg and thought I was going to die because of the side effects and chickened out but this past weekend I took a plundge and injected twice to get 10mg and amazing how it controls your appetite I actually threw most of breakfast away this morning becasue I was not feeling hungry at all..that is a good feeling. It's getting warm here I thought about starting to walk in the evenings and my best friend is pushing me to go work out at like curves or a gym, I was not for that at first because I am very overweight and I didn't want to over excert myself so I might go walking for a month to get my body ready and then join curves. I so want to do this and achieve losing some weight. Any other suggestions ladies?

Thanks for responding Chula, I think my doc thought it'd work better for me if my A1C is under control and she feels more comfortable upping insulin faster than something like byetta (and I can see why if at 10mg you're having bad side effects!!) I honestly needed to drop my bloodsugars fast since my A1C is 11 as of a few weeks ago (it was 10.2 when I started treatment in October and yet it went up!). So today I had my lowest BS ever since this started: 103 before dinner!!! I'm taking Novolog 70/30 before breakfast and before dinner and 1000mg metformin in the a.m. and the same amt at night!
As far as helping the drug help you lose weight, seriously drink your water and cut out the soda. I did nothing but those two things and lost 12 lbs in less than 2 weeks. I haven't been the weight I am now since like 1999 and I'm 9lbs away from going under 200 and I want that sooooo bad. So if you can't exercise much, that is my recommendation! Good luck
Thanks Julie I don't drink Soda anyway that will be good for me. Well let meknow ifyou go on Byetta and we can compare notes.
