Default Byetta and exhaustion!

My doctor tried me on Byetta for IR, the first month on the 5 MG dose I lost 12 lbs...and had little to no side effects (just some slight nausea). I have moved up to the 10 mg shot and I am like the walking dead! An hour after I take my first shot in the morning I just want to go back to sleep....actually today I layed on the couch from 11 am until 4 pm...sleeping on and off. That is NOT normal!!!Sometimes the reflux gets so bad about an hour after the shot that I can't even make myself eat anything...then I end up throwing up. Has anyone had any of these side effects?

Hey Kaitsmom, I'm sorry you are having bad side effects. My side effects don't include the exhaustion, but I get the nausea and if I eat too much, stomach pain. I don't actually throw up though. In fact, since I have started the Byetta my energy levels have gone through the roof compared to before Byetta. I would totally talk to the Dr about these side effects you are having. I hope you get this straightened out soon.

I have the opposite effect too. I have so much more energy it is scary. I will start cleaning for no reason!! Great side effect. I have lost weight quickly... I have been on in less than 2 weeks and already lost 13lbs.

Megan-how long have you been on Byetta? I am curious how much weight you have lost and does it continue after the inital shock to your system. I really feel like my body is working like it is suppose to. I am not sure I want to increase my dosage. I have been really careful in what I eat.

I will share with you..if you eat about a tablespoon of sunflower seeds...it helps with the nausa.

I finally had to have the doctor call me in the 5 mg pen, so I am doing that at least for another month before I try and go back up to 10mg. My weight has stalled as well, I lost a total of 15 lbs in the first month but it seems like my body has gotten used to it or something because I haven't dropped a pound since.
