Default byetta injection question

I have a question about injectioning yourself. Is it a jab kinda of motion or do you just hold the skin and pierce it?
I have looked at the website but I am so nervous and overwhelmed. I am so afraid of hurting myself.
Thank you

I just put the needle up to my skin and gently push it in. It doesn't hurt at all. When I push the needle to my skin and it hurts, I move it to a different place and try it. When I find a spot that doesn't hurt, I gently push it in and inject..Don't be nervous. It isn't bad at all. Good luck.

I agree with the previous poster. Just gently slide the needle into your skin. It shouldn't hurt. On the rare occasion it starts to sting then I just move spots. Starting Byetta is one of the best things I ever did.

I just did my first injection tonight. It was so much easier than I thought and I get really queazy. Not a bad thing to inject yourself. The need just slid right in. I had my self so freaked out... I felt like woose when it was over because it was so painless.

Okay, this post is from needle phobe #1. I was the kid that had to have her nurse and her mother lay on her to get a shot as a child. Please trust me when I say that it really isn't that bad at all. When I first started, I was PETRIFIED. I would rather run naked into incoming traffic on the freeway than inject myself with anything. When my doc first told me, I actually laughed at her. I been gut busting, belly wrenching laughed at her. The thought of needles, ewww. My skin is actually crawiling right now just thinking about it.
But yet I prick myself at least 5 times a day : two for the Byetta, and a min of 3 to check my sugar. I had a mosquito bite this summer that hurt worse than the Byetta needle. The key, as a previous poster stated, is to feel it. If that needle touches my skin and I feel pain, I move on to the next spot. 9 times out of ten, the needle slides in with a very smooth motion, and virtually no feeling at all. Don't jab, gentle pressure will break the skin quickly. It will be over before you know it. Trust me, the freaking out that you are doing right now is worse than the actual injection. Good luck!!!

I've been doing Byetta INJ 10mcg twice a day since May....it's helped me drop about 65lbs as well as help control my type II Diabetes along with MET for my PCOS. It's a painless INJ & I give it in the upper thigh. Hope this helps!

I've only been on Byetta since the beginning of August. I haven't lost any weight yet, but I just started the 10mcg a few weeks ago. I hope I lose as much weight as you have. I have noticed that it hasn't really helped with controlling the blood glucose levels yet. They are all over the place right now. I just hope it works or the doc will probably put me on insulin. That isn't what I want to do.

Okay, so I have been on Byetta for one week 5 mcg and I have been so sick I actually threw up everything that I ate on Saturday. Is this normal??? I have lost five pounds in one week. I'm not upset about that I'm just concerned that everything I ate since Friday didn't digest. What should I do?

I would call my doc and let them know what's going on. I didn't throw up, but I did have severe nausia and felt like I was gonna throw up. It lasted about a week and then I was fine. I started byetta in August and the endo bumped me up to the 10mcg a few weeks ago. So far, I feel fine with the 10mcg. I hope you feel better soon.

Ughh, memories. I was the same way for the first month! I was basically medically bulemic. It was horrible. But there is definitely an adjustment period, and some nausea is to be expected. There are a few things that can help you during the adjustment time. First, be very careful about eating anything too greasy, Byetta will kick out anything that it doesn't like, and Byetta hates grease. Alot. Second, be careful about when you eat after injection. Appetite supression is best at 45 mins after injection, but that time also has highest chance of nausea as well. The closer you eat to injection, the less chance of nausea you have. Third, please be careful to be aware of your portion sizes. Byetta will kick your natural butt if you overeat, and it will make you vomit if you overindulge. Be very concious of when you are full, not busting out full, but satisfied, and quit eating! If you overindulge, you will throw up. Sometimes chewing candied ginger will help alot with the nausea, as well as drinking a diet or carb free soda. The slowed down digestion that is Byetta's purpose can create gas buildup, and the soda will make you belch, which feels soooo good (even though u cant make me admit that in public! lol). I hope this helps you on your journey, please let me know if you have any other questions. I have been thru this all before, and I would be glad to offer my advise. Good luck!!

I just heard on a Byetta commercial that if the vomiting doesn't stop seek treatment immediately. Just an FYI.

Default Thank You!

Okay, so here is the deal. I talked to my doctor today. She said that I need to wait to start doing the byetta injections until I am at 2,000 fortemate, or go off of fortemate and do the injections only for a month. Either way pick a drug and do it for a month and then add the second drug. She said that just uping my dose could be the problem. This drug does make you immesnley full which I love. The doctor said that my body thinks its hungry all the time and that's just my insulin acting up which makes me feel crazy because my stomach in actually growling. I didn't over eat on the byetta. Even if I tried I couldn't. So, losing the five pounds felt sooo amazing. As soon as a month is up I'm going to start injecting again. Thank you allll so much for you tips and advice. I'm picking up some candied ginger and I'm going to just take my time and let my body get adjusted to all of the changes rather than and one time. I didn't eat greasy foods, but how do you think one should eat on byetta? I'm afraid of eating the wrong foods.

Much Love to my Cycsters!
