Default Byetta not reducing appetite

I have been on Byetta (wonder drug according to my diabetes doc). She pushed for me to take it because of the s/e of reduced appetite and weightloss. I have a few to lose and am desperately trying to. I never had much of an appetite to begin with, and after one week the Byetta has done nothing but make me break out in a rash. After the first free month I don't think I am going to stay on it. My BG numbers are about the same with a few lows usually mid-day.

Anyone take it and did it take a while to see the benefits?

I've been on Byetta strictly for appetite control since April of this year and have lost 24 lbs! i love it. The first day I took it i got horrible dizziness but I think the doses were too close together and that was just on the 5 mcg. no dizziness after that but I make sure that the doses are at least 7 hours apart from the other. Then after a month or so I moved up to the 10mcg and have been on that since. Although I think I have gotten used to the dose and need to move it up once more. As I have been eating more at night. I find that once I take the shot if I wait 10 or 15 minutes I don't feel as hungry as I was before the shot and eat less.

I am on 5mcg. My doc said I can go off of it for now and Monday e-mail her my blood sugar numbers and if they are still low...I can stay off of it.

I didn't have much of an appetite before (often having to remind myself to eat) but I do have a lot to lose and the doc said that it actually works to restore the insulin producing beta cells in the pancreas. Apparenty my testosterone was very high, was severely IR and my pancreas shut down...and I was welcomed to the world of diabetes type II.

I am on:
6u Levemir Insulin
Byetta 5mcg (2x daily)
Glimepiride 4mg (only 1/2 tablet)
Metformin (1000mg x 2)
Benicar
Asprin 81mg
Prometrium 250mg

Centrum Multi
Cinnamon 1000mg
Chromium
and will soon start gymnema sylvestre 400mg

It is my hope that I can get off all the diabetic meds and insulin and just use the supplements along with diet and exercise to keep BS in check. I was just dx 11/16 with bs of 480...and already had consistant bs of 90-120 after a week. I think the doc put me on too much and I am responding better than expected. She said to stop the Byetta, will soon stop the insulin, and hopefully after that the glimeperide. I don't mind the metformin.
