Caffeine In Smoothie Causes Dehydration After some restless nights, I drank a 30-oz, B-Vitamin boost Green Tea Smoothie at 12:30 PM to get through the workday. Bad choice- I didn't realize it was that potent, had the caffeine shakes later, but figured I was hydrated enough because of the ice in the smoothie.
For dinner I had a tamale, but didn't really think it was salty.
At 12:30 AM I woke up nauseous, dry mouth, and cold. Remembering Met's relationship with dehydration and lactic acidosis, I immediately started drinking water.
As I write it is 3 AM. Since then, I have drank 9 glasses of water. I will drink two more, then try to go back to sleep.
I feel better, but I'm debating whether to call my doctor or not. |
