Default Calling all pregnant sisters - Natural pregnancy anyone, with lots of yoga?

Hi Ladies

I'm sure I can't be alone ....

I've managed to get Pregnant (yaay) and have started to put into action all the more natural, holistic changes I've been pushing for ... (DH was resistant, a little ...)

I started changing my moisturiser a while ago, and am still finding out about products I am happy to use (I don't want to make my own, maybe will do in the future), we're moving to less chemical-filled cleaning products, and I'm throwing out a lot of stuff I don't use, don't want to use, or wont use for another 2 years now... clothes, make up, hair products - giving stuff away where I can.

I have loved yoga for years, but haven't practiced it regularly. My health issues have been long, tedious and intrusive, and mostly painful and sometimes I've been able to help myself with yoga, other times didn't feel confident to do it without a teacher and couldn't afford one.

Now I have a few months before I reach 14 weeks and can do some serious yoga - I plan to work on my breathing and relaxation till then. Anyone else doing the same?

I've asked my Mum to do yoga with me (she does it herself) from 14 weeks.

Only discovered yoga after my last pregnancy, so I can't be much help to you but as for the natural healthcare side of things - am an old hand! When I was a kid, my dad's first stop with minor illnesses, was the old herbalist's shop in Leeds (now long gone), so it's always been part of life! I know round here some of the swimming baths do aqua-yoga (is that what they call it?) for pregnant ladies which is probably a gentle way of continuing right up to delivery? As for your birth plan and everything - you should be able to ask for a water birth or whatever you want, and if you don't get complications or the water birth suite isn't taken on the night (or day!) then it's your's! I found the NHS health care very good, in pregnancy - they did listen to what you wanted, and a lot of 'natural' approaches are now used routinely on antenatal and postnatal wards!

Watch the essential oils, in pregnancy as some are dodgy. I know I sued lavender, rose, and ylang-ylang throughout all my pregnancies, in slightly lower than normal doses, in my baths and massage oils etc!

Wish I'd done yoga at the time I was having my babie s- can imagine it would be very good for keeping you strong and supple, and focussed! Good on you!
