I'm currently on the generic.. I haven't been on it long enough to notice if it's helped any with acne/hair.. but a friend I know who was on it said that their acne went away on ocella.

well I got a letter from my GP saying that my results are back and that they show an abnormality and have asked me to make an appointment to see her, I am going in on Saturday morning.

I was tested for vit D and also thrombolia, so I think it might be to do with that. I am a bit worried now.

I was on Yasmin for 3 years. I lost weight, my periods were regulated, and my skin was clearer. This was the first time I'd ever been able to lose weight. Someone mentioned Yaz, they aren't the same thing. Good luck!

I think this is something you just need to try to see if you like it or not. Everyone is really different and everyone reacts differently to various BCP's.

The only experience I've had with BCP's was about 3-4 months ago. I took Yaz for 2 months to try to regulate. It was PERFECT when I was on it. Regulated fine, acne cleared up and I even had less excess hair (the best part), but I was just using it to regulate for TTC. Unfortunately the minute I got off Yaz I was right back to irregular and the first cycle following Yaz was 60some days long.

There are always risks that come with BCP's just like any other medication. Know your body, know how the med changes you, and know which changes are normal/tolerable. Keep track. Try different things until you find what works for you. It is not good to go without a period, so I do recommend finding something that works.

As for Met, I've never taken it, myself, but work with it every day. As others said, you usually start out on a lower dose and work up to lessen GI side effects (although most still have them). Are you at the highest dose yet? I commonly hear that most people don't react to Met until they're at a higher dose. Consider that as well.

Good luck with your choices.

I take Yasmin and this month I have no AF..O.O....But I have never had a problem with acne or skin tags or any of that sort with my PCOS, the only problem I had is the hair and periods. Yasmin has worked great with me until this month, which I dont know what is going on.

Hi All, thanks for the responses.
Well I went back for my results at the weekend and there are issues with the thrombolia and protein s results. They are slightly near the cut off mark where it would be to high risk for me to take the pill and there may be an issue with clotting.
She is going send me for another blood test to check them again and if they are off again she is going to refer me to haematology , there is a history of blood clots in my family.

Also I have very low Vitamin D levels, so she gave me a perscription for some Vit D tablets to take.

So I am not on Yasmin yet. Least she is checking everything properly and not just handing out the pill willy nilly. I think the doctor I saw before was not very clued up o PCOS.

I asked her about being low or high on estrogen , she said that my hormones levels are fine.

So I am off for another blood test on thursday and then have to wait 3 weeks for results. So I am still spotty , not having a period and am starting to notice more hair sprouting about! Great Fun!!!

I take Yasmin, Metformin and Spironolactone, in addition to using Vaniqa cream.
Helped with the symptoms, struggling with hypothyridsm now. Last year has been really terrible in terms of facial hair growth. Since starting Synthroid, and in combination with my PCOS meds, I only have to remove hair once a week, instead of daily. Good luck.

I am still not sure about Yasmin, I have ordered some Vitex which I think I am going to give a try first.
Hi, Jem buddy! I was wondering if you have noticed any differences since taking vitex? I ordered a bottle of Femaprin last week, but haven't started taking it yet. The positive things I've read about it give me hope.

Hi there, I ordered some femaprin which arrived the other week, I have not started taking yet as I am going to back to the doctors next week to get results of my last blood test, I didnt want to be taking anything when I had it done. I am going to wait to see what happens and then I maybe give it a try.

I would like to try it though as I have read loads of good stuff about it too
