My Mood: Points: 11,883.76 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 11,883.76 | Can artificial sweeteners hinder weight loss? Anyone know if this is true? That artificial sweeteners and caffeine can provoke the same kind of insulin release as regular sugar and causes you to store fat?
Just wondering since I drink a lot of diet coke!!

My Mood: Points: 19,503.75 Bank: 104,849.23 Total Points: 124,352.98 | I've always been told that they do. But I'm sure it all has to do with how MUCH of it you're drinking. A can a day, probably not a big issue. Everything in moderation.
Although, artificial sweeteners are nasty bad for you.

My Mood: Points: 4,828.97 Bank: 221,080.45 Total Points: 225,909.42 | I find artificial sweetners stimulate my appetite. I still have things like a sugarfree red bull occassionally but I'm extra concious about what I'm eating now after I've had something like that.

My Mood: Points: 114,482.46 Bank: 3,245,802.62 Total Points: 3,360,285.08 | In my thinnest days I was consuming lots of diet coke. I used it as a diet aid actually whilst I was losing weight too!
I would say YMMV - your mileage may vary. Lots of studies would suggest it might not help and it's not exactly healthy - but for me it didn't cause me to gain weight and helped me to lose it.
