Default Can a dermatologist do anything?

I'm ttc, and have bad acne since I went off BCP. Is it worth it to go see a dermatologist? Would they be able to give me anything or should I wait it out?

I'm in a mood to use up some insurance since they aren't covering infertility.

Omg... you wouldn't believe how much a dermatologist can help.
I absolutely LOVE mine!
In fact, I just gave her this site address because she herself has pcos and is ttc. Just today we discussed on the phone the wealth of information that is available within this community....maybe she'll join us soon.

But...back to your situation...yes yes yes a dermatologist can definately help. Mine is very compassionate about the skin conditions I have dealt with having pcos.
She is so helpful too .., like if the prescriptions aren't covered then samples are always available.
Right now Im trying out a cream, Im gonna have to run to the car and grab my bag to get the name but ,,,,I am 34 yrs old and Ive used it a little over a month and my complexion is very noticeably (sp?) better.

Hope you find a great one like I did!

Good Luck!

In my case, not at all. My Derm has tried everything from systemic antibiotics, to topical antibiotics and preparations, Retin-a, Retin-A Micro, hell I even tried good old salicylic acid, sea salt, lemon juice, diet, and Proactiv.

Before resorting to Accutane, my Derm told me to fix my hormones and my acne will go away.

Honestly, I have tried a ton of topicals and antibiotics. What worked for me is three-fold. My derm gave me retin a micro. And put me on spiro. My gyn has me on BCPs. And I self regulate on finacea. What has really really helped is the spiro. Being that it helps with underlying conditions, it has made a huge difference. The others definitely contribute, but spiro has made a monumental improvement. Hope this helps.
