Can a dieased gallbladder make you have high blood sugars??
My sister who is 100 lbs needs to have her gallbladder out. She has been having irratic periods and has recently lost 30-40 lbs. She is in a very unhappy marriage. She has been checking her blood sugars at work and they have ranged from first thing in the morning 300-450. I know that is really high. She needs to have her gallbladder out asap. She keeps on blowing off the surgery. I was wondering if that could be causing some of her problems.
I think that this is a serious issue. She also had a bladder infection and went to the doctor. They told her that her urine had a large amount of glucose in it.
Any advice would be greatly apperciated

Counting the days until my husband comes home from Afghanistan, December 4th at 8:33pm, but hey who's counting?!
ABSOLUTELY!!!!! When my mother had a major gall bladder infection, her blood sugar was through the roof and then would drop 100-200 points in an hour or less and we would be picking her up off the floor. This went away after the surgery. Although she is diabetic, her blood sugar was always very stable before. If your sister is diabetic, any serious infection can make blood sugars worse. You can end up with pancreatitis from gall bladder disease, and that can be serious. After seeing what my mom and aunt both went through, I would definitely have the surgery. Their situations both became emergencies because they were let go too long.
Here, I found this article for you. It talks about how the liver, gall bladder, and pancreas are all connected. It sure sounds like the gall bladder could affect blood sugar!
Also when you are diabetic it can effect your other organs.
If (diabeties) is left untreated you can damage just about every organ in your body!! Kidneys are one(normally) of the first to go.
If she is showing glucose/sugar in her urine...This is VERY serious!!
Also with her numbers so high above 200...She could have a heart attack from the stress on the other organs.
Another thing, she can go blind.
Please research the results of damage from diabeties.
Many people have died from these issues.
If you let your numbers stay high, you can also go into a coma.
My mother was DX with it. Her home care worker bought reg soda instead of diet. She had been drinking it for weeks and becoming sicker and sicker.
It was only when my SIL came by with the kids and they asked for a drink did she find the reg soda. My SIL asked Mom if this is what she had been drinking. SIL had her check her blood sugar(too ill before hand) and it was at 600!!
She was taken to the ER and they had to watch her for hrs to get it some what under control. They told her another day or two and she could have been dead!!
I guess the point I'm trying to get to is even a simple cold can make your sugars jump. Even some meds can effect your blood sugars(predizone for one). So you just never know for sure.
That is why a diabetic needs to watch them so close.
If she can't control them, she needs to see a dr for help.
So she needs to see her Dr again and get those in check.
BTW, some Dr's won't opperate with out of control diabeties.
So please reasure her to go in.
My prayers are with her.(and for your sanity)

but it can definitely cause pain! My doctor thought I was developing larger cysts (this is about 7 years ago) and did an exploratory laparoscopy, to see what was causing my pain, he turned the camera a bit, and my gall bladder was the size of a fist!
I had it out a month later (they couldn't find a general surgeon who would take it out while I was still under, so I had to heal a bit before they could open me up again.) The other thing is, if it gets really bad, she could become jaundice, which happened to my grandmother, and she had to have emergancy surgery for it.
My sister and aunt had to have theirs out about 2-4 months after I had mine out, my sisters was huge, and my aunt's went completely flat. The stones they got out of my sister's were outrageous, especially since she was only about 16 at the time.
