Default Can hypothyroidism get better?

I mean can it eventually go away or get better or once you've got it your stuck with it??

And how would we ever be able to tell, if not taking our medicine is highly dangerous?

Has anyone ever had it and then not?

Just some thoughts that came into mind...

Hi From what I know.. it is usually for life. I am not sure what happens if we don't take our meds for thryoid.. I'm waiting the answer myself! I havent been consistent in taking my meds but working on that. I do feel much tired than usual. Doc did say thta you will feel worse if you don't take your meds.

I'd just heard of someone who had it, and after pregnancy it seems to have disappeared!!

not taking your meds can lead to severe depression, fatigue, goiter, weight gain, mental fog, to name a few. in extreme cases people with hypothyroid can slip into comas and, potentially, die. also, some people with hypothyroid and severe depression have developed psychosis

synthroid is cheap- it's just best to take it!!!

oh, and hashimotos hypthroid is not currently known to be reversable.

i hope this helps!

I am on Synthroid and it helps me out a lot. I feel great when I take it. I hate taking medications though because I often forget, but I do know of a lady who was taken to the hospital because she was slipping into a comma for not taking her thyroid medication. She was my neighbor and that is why I take my medication. Oh that reminds me...I need to take my meds. buh bye.
