Hello all,
I recently had an ultrasound done to check out the location of a fibroid, and it showed that I have multiple follicles in my ovaries as opposed to one dominant follicle. I do have some other symptoms, such as being overweight, skin tags and acne. However, I have always had regular cycles and I know from charting the last three months that I am ovulating (or at least have been ovulating recently, don't know what I did before I started charting). My doctor, who is great, said she could do all the tests if I like, but she was certain that my insulin levels would be soaring after a glucose test and she is fairly sure I have PCOS. So, my question is, can I have PCOS with regular cycles and what appears to be fairly regular ovulation? My doc went ahead and prescribed metformin.
Thanks,
Stacy
One thing that I thought when I read your post is that maybe you also have a thyroid problem. It's very common to have thyroid issues with PCOS. (I do, as do a bunch of us here). With thyroid issues, you will most likely have a regular AF while also having all the PCOS issues.
It's something to think about having checked out.
I wish you the best of luck in your treatments!

Welcome and good luck!
Women often have different combinations of PCOS signs and symptoms, and many women do ovulate normally. Sometimes you can ovulate normally until something happens, eg you go on and off the pill, put on weight, or even just get really stressed, and then the nightmare PCOS period symptoms kick in. So yes, managing your insulin if it's a problem is really important, because insulin is really what causes PCOS, and your thyroid should be checked too (everyone with PCOS should have their thyroid checked, according to my doctor).
