Question Can I increase my dose, with no visit to Doc??

Hello,
This is my first time posting here, but I read these boards all the time. I have found they are a great source of info, for those things you don't want to keep calling your doc about! Anyway, I was recently dx with PCOS, after a year of ttc #1. I am also IR, which prompted my doc to start me on met. I have been taking 1000mg for almost a month now, which is almost one complete cycle for me. I was just wondering, how soon should I see a difference in my cycles, and ovulation? I do ovulate on my own sometimes, though not often. Actually I haven't ovulated at all this year! And I am also trying to lose weight. I have about 50 to lose. I thought the met would make it easier, but I have noticed no differences at all. So, would it be ok if I increased my met from 1000 to 1500 mg? I can't see what it would hurt, since my doc said she would start me on a lower dose anyway......
Sorry this is so long, but I thought I would give a little background on my situation. I appreciate any advice or help!!

Thanks!
Annie

I'd call your doctor and ask her to up your dosage. Besides, if you up it without an increased prescription, you'll be running out a lot sooner. If you have an insurance company like mine, they figure your meds will last a certain length of time and won't pay for it if you run out too early. Good luck with whatever you decide!
