I had a nice pat on the back at Justin & Maria's well baby check ups today. Both kids are healthy to begin with and doing very well, except a minor speech "delay" for Justin. (They have the average child his age saying 20 words and using small sentences, Justin says about a dozen words and points the rest of the time, so I'm not terribly worried, but welcome any good therapy they have for him to help him use more words.)
But it was Maria's growth chart the doctor was raving about. When she came home at 4 months old, she was in the 10th percentile for weight and didn't even measure on the height chart. Today, 16 months later, she is in the 35th percentile for weight and 15th percentile for height. The doctor was so pleased and said that it takes a lot of good food and TLC to have that much of a change coming from bascially zero. I knew Maria had a growth spurt this summer, but I'm so proud of her--it sounds silly to say that, like she can control her growth--but I am.
Justin has NEVER been off the charts--but he almost is now, the other direction. He's 65th percentile in weight and 95th percentile in height (up from 40th % for both height and length when he came home also 16 months ago.) I wish I had a magic ball to tell me how tall he's going to be--and at what age he'll reach my height--he only has 30 inches to go!!!
Thanks for letting me crow a little about my "chicks".
It makes you feel good to know your kids are thriving, doesn't it? I know--it happened with Jessica. She was born so premature that every ounce she gained made me thrilled to bits! I know the feelings you're having and you know what? Plume those feathers, sweetie!! You deserve it!
They are doing so great! Any recent pictures you can post? Hugs to all of your family!!
XO
Lis

Awww, thank you all. It's nice after having lived and breathed for and with J&M the last 18 months to know I've done a few things right. I was absolutely terrified to be a first time mother to one, then at the last minute, two. At least I was too sleep deprived at the start to remember many of those worries.
I'd love to share some pictures, but am not sure how. It took me this long to figure out an Avatar, lol. Lisa--how did the pictures of Emily get resized and posted? I have tons of digi camera shots on my hard drive. But they're HUGE and probably excede the file size limit. Anyone can help, I'd appreciate it.
Melissa if they are in "My Pictures" just right click on the image and go to 'edit'...then it should bring it up in the paint program...i always then go to image resizing I think it is and I do 50 and 50 in each box then enter then do it again...
That is, if you have the same programs that I do ! LOL
If not I am going to PM you my email address at home here and you can send them to me and I will post them for you
