Default Can I start BCP without having a period first?

I'm on day 47 of my cycle and have not O'd so I was going to go back on BCP to see if I can regulate things. Am I able to go back on without a period first? Has anyone done that?

You can start bcp at any point in your cycle AS LONG AS you're not pregnant.

You may need to use extra protection e.g. condoms for the first week.

Sometimes when starting at a different time you may experience some spotting but this doesn't affect the efficacy of the pill.

Good luck x

Oh and I have done it before since my AF was totally irregular and it made no sense to delay treatment for months!

My doctor made me take Provera before I started bcp. I don't know if this was really neccessary or not, but maybe you should ask your doctor.

I think that if you haven't had a bleed for 3 months or whatever your gynae decides, you may need to take provera to shed the lining first, however 47 days isn't so long so I would personally start bcp. Plus I am assuming you're under the guidance of an gynae or doctor.

I did...I was on CD 53 and my MD didn't want to prescribe Provera so I had left over BCP's so I just started them a few days ago. I've done it in the past and never had a problem.

I just want my period (sound funny for saying that i know) and to have a fresh start.
