Question can insulin resistance "go away"?

I was diagnosed with borderline ir several years ago according to some blood tests. I recently got tested again and all my levels are much lower and well within the normal range. The same goes for my fasting glucose test. So my question is do I still have insulin resistance? Is it something that can "go away" with proper diet and exercise or is it something that I still have even if I have normal blood work? Thanks!

With proper diet, weight loss and exercise you can indeed see the result of your insulin resistance "going away". My insulin levels used to be in the 24-28 range at all times and now that I have lost some weight and watch my carb intake my insulin levels are around 12-15 usually -- still on the higher side of normal but much, much better!
Here is an interesting article on insulin resistance:

my endo tole me that the right diet can make it "go away"

basically IR is like an immunity or tolerance, so if you remove some of the factors it' slike going off the drug ro whatever and then your immunity /tolerance /resistance goes away.

anwyhow that's how it was explained to me.

Sorry, but I work with a Doctor and the answer is no...it can be controlled just like Diabetes but it will come back if you stop eating right and exercise.

That is why I put the "going away" in quotations... it never does "go away" but you can make it seem like it has gone away if you are vigilant with your dietary habits and exercsie routine...but IR is always lurking and looking to make a comeback if you go off the bandwagon.

I use the Insulin Reistance handbook... excellent recipes. I don't do the no carb thingie, but I do low carbs and I walk every day. My insulin levels have been under control for close to 3 years now, but I know that I can't stop watching or they will skyrocket again.
