I was wondering can/does met lose effectiveness ? I heard this somewhere and I'm starting to think ... is it wise to be on met right now while I'm "merely" insulin resistant when statistically there's a chance I could eventually end up with diabetes and REALLY need it...and by then it may have stopped working lost effectiveness because I've been taking it so long ?
What do you think ?

A specialist in PCOS has told my physician that most women are not on the highest dosage they need. I did not really start losing the weight easily or having "normal" cycles until I got to 2500 mg. He goes as high as 3500 mg if not more.

Wow.... normally I take around 1000mg (well actually I fluctuate! I take more or less depending on how many grams of carbs I'm having, anything over 15 g I take a met tablet with... don't know if this is the best approach though)
I get cycles on 500-1000mg/day. I have noticed though that my weight loss is proportional to the amount of met I'm taking, so probably there is some truth to what you are saying and I am not on a high enough dose ...I can't see why met would make a person lose weight except that is ACTUALLY working/doing something...
*scratches head* I wonder if met would make a non IR person lose weight ?
