Default Can Metformin actually make you worse?

Hi all! I'm a thin cyster with no diagnosed insulin resistance. My left ovary looks borderline for PCOS. I have a slight hirsutism and some acne, but very very rarely ovulate on my own.

I responded very well (ovulation wise, not s/e wise) to the lowest dose of clomid and femara for 7 cycles. Then my doc put me on met, I did another cycle 2 mos later and didn't even get follicles to grow large enough for ovulation. Same thing for the next cycle. Then we doubled my dose of Femara, added injectible FSH for 5 days AND an HCG trigger, and I STILL did not ovulate.

The only thing that changed in between those times is the met. Can it actually hurt me if I don't need it and make it harder for me to ovulate??

Any advice is very greatly appreciated.
B
p.s. The doc seems disinterested in why this sudden change occurred and more interested in discussing what new super dose medicine he's going to try. That's why I'm looking for help here.
