Does anyone know if Metformin can adversely affect thyroid or TSH levels? I've tried to Google it, but keep coming up with nothing conclusive.
I had thyroid testing done in October and my TSH was 3.74. When it was retested in March, it was 1.79. I am NOT on any thyroid meds.
The only correlation I can see is that about two weeks before this latest bloodwork I had stopped taking my 2000mg Metformin because I'd been sick with the flu and couldn't stomach taking it. I know this had an effect on my testosterone level because back in October it was 22, and in March it was 44. When I was on the 2000mg, my TSH is high, when I'm off it, it's lower.
I'm just confused. Thanks to anyone who can make sense enough of this to offer any insight!!!
