Question Can metformin cause allergic reaction?

I had an allergic reaction to something i ate last night. I am not sure what it was exactly but i think it may possibly be a sour-mix haribo candy/sweet or a cocnut macaroon (cookie). I have eaten these before without a problem before i was on met. But last night within an hour i got diarrhoea, itchy face/throat, burning chest and windpipe and quite bad wheezing. I was wondering whether it would be the metformin or whether it's just a food allergy and i would have got it anyway!

Thanks for your help!

You can get a food allergy at any time, even though you have eaten it before.

i have been on met for 3 ½ months now. I think i will go to my doctor and see what he has to say about it - i wouldn't want to get it again and have the reaction be worse as i was a bit scared about my wheezing and tight chest when it happened.
