Default Can NPC increase insulin resistance?

Hi all,

I just ran across something that has me very confused. First of all, I know that many of us have estrogen dominance, and most of us are insulin resistance. I just read something that got me thinking about what the affects of increased progesterone in our bodies (i.e. NPC) would have on insulin resistance:

"Estrogen influences your body's response to insulin. As estrogen levels decline, your body becomes more resistant to insulin, so your blood sugar levels may rise.
Progesterone also affects your body's response to insulin, but its effect is the opposite of estrogen's. As your body produces less progesterone, your body is more receptive to insulin, which may cause your blood sugar levels to drop."

This was from an article about menopause and diabetes:

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Linda

I've heard the exact opposite! I've read several times that a progesterone deficiency can cause insulin resistance.

In my case I have very low progesterone levels and high fasting insulin levels. So I would have to say low progesterone is sure no cure for IR for me...
