I have anxiety/ depression and panic attacks, and I too am starting to think there's a correlation between them and PCOS. Definately the hormones do not help.....
I'm coming to the conclusion that they are connected. I'm now having anxiety which is lasting around 15 days every single month, either just before my period or just after. Worse in the mornings and with a real terror that something is going to happen. It feels like I'm free falling and can't stop it. Then have to drag myself out of it when I start to feel stronger when it's letting go. I've only had it since moving to the seaside too well I mean having them this bad - they weren't so bad before but now it's a living nightmare. This is the longest I've been without one in 2 years and I made it 6 weeks anxiety free. Why can't they do anything about it. I hate being trapped by this god damn anxiety. And it's not as if I can stop it either.

GOOD POST...i ALSO STARTED HAVING PANIC ATTACKS, ESPECIALLY WHEN SYMPTOMS BEGAN REALLY BAD...IT WOULD BE CRAZY THINGS THAT TRIGGER IT LIKE A PROFESSOR "MENTIONING" TEST, CROSSING A STREET, OR JUST COME OUT THE BLUE WHILE WATCHING TV...I NOTICED THAT IT WAS USUALLY WHEN MY TESTOSTERONE LEVELS WERE EXTREMELY HIGH...ANYONE ELSE HAVE THE PROBLEM...i ALSO HAD THIS PIGGY BACKED WITH INSOMNIA (I WATCHED THE SUN RISE AND FALL FOR 4 CONSECUTIVE DAYS) WHICH THEY PUT ME ON SEROQUEL (500MG) FOR BUT THE EFFECTS WENT UP AND WOULD HAVE TO TAKE EXTREMELY HIGH DOSES TO EVEN GET DROSY. ANYONE ELSE HAVE THIS PROBLEM.
Wow! I thought all along that it's only me who deals with these things. I didn't really pay attention to this anxiety thing before. I was pretty active in school activities and in some extra-curricular activities. In short, I was quite an achiever. When my symptoms have gotten worse, I started to have anxious feelings. It's not the type that I need medication for them, but I am very aware of the stress. Sometimes it's triggered by something, and most of the time, it just happens. I just lie in bed and I need to sit up just so I can catch my breath. Sometimes I'd get this choking feeling out of nowhere. I take deep breaths etc... I just try to calm myself down. Oh boy, I seriously need to control my symptoms so that I don't have to deal with the anxiety. I don't like it at all.

Oddly enough my panic attack started shortly after I started getting my period, which was very irregular from the start and I think caused by PCOS. As soon as my period started at 12 I started packing on the pounds very quickly when I was actually a skinny kid before all that.
I wouldn't be at all surprised if the two are connected. Panic attacks have been very dabilitating for me to the point I can barely leave my house when they are bad. Maybe losing weight will help reverse my PCOS, as it did for a friend, and therefore ease some of my anxiety issues.
